They realized he has short arms... no wonder so many teams passed on him.

No, that surprised me too, but I think it's just out of respect to Ballard. Floyd better be able to be #2 by first game and possibly starting by mid-season.

The only surprises on that depth chart are the positions where they have players slotted. But the thinking has always been that there's very little difference between FS and SS in the Vikings' scheme. And that all of the LBs are expected to learn each job and be interchangeable. It's impossible for me to believe that Larry Dean would be the first substitute at SLB if Chad Greenway goes down.

I've been wondering for a while whether they may do that, even if Joe Webb doesn't make the squad. Plenty of teams have played for years with only two QBs. That extra roster position could come in very handy with such a young team with so many developing players at so many positions.

I think that would be a mistake to have him do both, I wanna save his energy to develop at WR.

If they just wanted a simple WR I think the Vikings would have drafted Keenan Allen instead. Having Patterson as a kick returner is right down his alley. I think he did it in Tennessee. Plus he's not starting right now so it's safe. Even if he was starting, after the kickoff just let him rest a play or two and he will be fine.

I think we should leave Patterson on the bench. Playing football is just inviting injury. We want to keep this guy in mint condition.

I am a little disappointed to see that Blanton is not list behind Sanford, but, who knows, maybe Blanton will get his shot.
