It isn't dead on, but I always thought there was similar mannerisms. "What's up everybody its Tom Pelissero here." Haha there is just something about him that reminds me of really either great Adam Scott character, Ben or his Party Down character Henry.NextQuestion wrote: Damn...I'll have to listen closely next time. Never thought of that.

It was always apparent that his job as a beat reporter in Minnesota was always just a stepping stone to his next job.

Well, then I guess it wasn't apparent to everyone...
His not being a Vikings fan was one good indication. It was always just a job. A job that he did well, and passionately, but he was always an outside observer.

Uh...you don't have to be (and probably shouldn't be) a fan of the team you cover to cover it objectively.Eli wrote:Well, then I guess it wasn't apparent to everyone...

Huh? I'm not sure what you're arguing. I think he did a very good job. I said that the job was obviously just a step on the way in his career.dead_poet wrote: Uh...you don't have to be (and probably shouldn't be) a fan of the team you cover to cover it objectively.
Re: ESPN1500 Tom Pelissero going to USATODAY
No doubt that Pelissero was always too good to remain at one position in one place for a long time. But I'm still shocked by the move.
I wish the guy all the luck but I'm sure going to miss him. His insights on the Vikings were among the best out there.

The only thing I find surprising is that he says he'll be staying in Minneapolis. Maybe he'll cover the NFC North, like Kevin Seifert does for ESPN.

That would be great. We'd probably still get some good insights on the Vikes from him.
Re: ESPN1500 Tom Pelissero going to USATODAY
That was probably why he did such a good job. Unlike these other hucksters peddling hope and positivity that isn't there to try and get in good with the team/players. They'll find some shyster to write fluff pieces about how great every player is now.dead_poet wrote: Uh...you don't have to be (and probably shouldn't be) a fan of the team you cover to cover it objectively.

Maybe you should apply for the job. You might get it and we'd all catch a break.Demi wrote: That was probably why he did such a good job. I went to a trivia night Pelissero hosted once and most of his questions were really obscure Wolves and Vikings questions. I don't know if he wrote his own questions but damn they were kind of out of left field. Seems like only life long rube, like myself, would have known the answers.

I'm not sure I follow .. is that a bad thing?Eli wrote:It was always apparent that his job as a beat reporter in Minnesota was always just a stepping stone to his next job.
Most people in any profession want to attain the highest level they can. In most cases, that involves doing a great job ... which he did. We were the beneficiaries.
Not everybody who does a great job gets promoted or gets a better opportunity, so I'm glad for him that he did.

Go ahead. I dare you.
Underestimate this man.

Re: Media FYI
Anybody know who replaced him?

Re: Media FYI
Is it just me or is anyone else just really annoyed with the new guy covering the Vikings for ESPN? I really enjoyed Kevin Seifert's coverage and his writing. The new guy?..not so much. Maybe I still need more time to get used to him or somthing but his writing and reporting style is just very jarring to read.
