Simpson was clearly playing hurt last season hence the one thing that sets his game apart, his speed, was hindered. He does look to be a #2 type guy with potential to be more depending on him working more than toking. So, I would argue that that puts him a notch below a #1 guy...AJ Green or any other #1.

I'm sure Simpson lost a step from his injury last season but what worries me equally was the number of dropped passes he had, which shouldn't have been impacted by injury.

That's my concern too. He played injured but there were also route-running issues, catching issues..

He was known for dropping a lot of passes in Cincinnati as well, but of course you wont see that on the hightlight tapes

I didn't say anything about receptions. I said 'numbers'. And I would never would argue comparative skillset with AG Green.

15 less receptions, 300 less yards, and 3 fewer TD's. I'd say that's a notch below, and with a rookie QB and as the #2 WR.

It seems you judge way too much from highlight tapes alone.

Improve from what? From being an average to below average wildly inconsistent injured receiver to an average to below average wildly inconsistent healthy receiver? I guess.

Well if he had a back injury like we were told it could have had a major effect on him. While at times you feel great, just the right movement will bring pain. Not sure what his problem was but it could have effected him greatly. Nothing like being in the middle of doing something when that shooting pain hits you out of nowhere. It takes away all of you concentration on what you were doing. So, don't know if that was his issue, we shall see this year.

It was reported, and Spielman reiterated on the radio, that he had a nerve problem that was causing problems in his feet. Supposedly he is healed...

Quite the contrary. What Im saying is the highlight tape wasn't enough to warrant that Simpson is all that great. I watched some games when he was in Cincy, and while he does make a few special catches, I also seen him drop a lot of catchable of balls. He's very inconsistent. He will be the last guy I'd throw the ball down the stretch.

Ditto - never thought that was the argument from anyone to begin with.

Exactly. Unless I misunderstood the intent, I thought the question was whether or not Simpson had healed and could now play at full speed.

I don't think anyone expects Simpson to be great, but if he's healed then there are some things that he can do to help the passing game.

See! Right there! We all know that when you write "there are some things that he can do to help the passing game" what you really mean is "Simpson is great".

That's it, Craig. You've tipped your hand and now we all know you think Simpson is the BEST.
