Wonder what thread count sheets he has on it. That could play a big factor too.

I believe his performance was affected by injuries but that's as far as I'm willing to go. I have no idea how he will play this year but he stunk most of last season so if he's going to play at all, I hope he plays a lot better.

Honestly, if Jerome Simpson was any good, he'll still be in Cincinnati. That flip-TD he made was the only big play he made that season. Other than that it was always Chad Johnson carrying the load. Luckily for us we got a good WR in Greg Jennings and hopefully Cordarrelle Patterson.

I think it was the pounds of pot police found in his possession that led to his departure from Cincinnati. :)

The quality isn't great but Simpson made more big plays in Cincy than just the famous "flip" play. In 2011, he was productive and he showed a level of athleticism that we didn't see much last year. I have no idea if he can get back to being a genuine playmaker but he's certainly shown that he's capable of making some big plays and great catches in the NFL.

Simpson played 13 games his first three years in Cincy, his only full season was his last in 2011. Chad Johnson was in Miami for the 2011 season.
A successful coach needs a patient wife, loyal dog, and great quarterback - and not necessarily in that order.

Thanks for the link, Jim. Simpson looks good on this video and is obviously not just a one-note player.

I've never doubted Simpson's athletic abilities. He needs to stay focused and healthy. If that happens, I think he'll make some big plays for the Vikings this year.

to be blunt-no. and if patterson doesn't play a big role in the passing game, i'm not convinced that our receivers are all that much better than last season. harvin and jennings basically cancel each other out.

To be honest, Simpson wasn't even that great with the Bengals.

   So he can make a few acrobatic catches every now and then. He still wasn't as productive as he should've been. The 2011 season was his GOOD season. But the only thing people will remember him for is that flip for now.

2011 stats for the Cincy Bengals, Dalton'as rookie year. Simpon's numbers were just a notch below AJ Green's.

15 receptions is a notch? and we're not talking 95 to 80. Try 50 total receptions for Simpson. A.J. Green is twice the receiver Simpson will ever be, but losing that much business to a rookie doesn't show me too much. Only 4 TD's too. He's got athleticism. That's clear. Only that doesn't fully encompass what you need to be a productive receiver in the NFL.

There's still hope and given circumstances he can still "breakout," but I'd rather temper the hype on this one then boast unrealistic expectations based on an athletic ceiling.

Is anybody arguing otherwise? Simpson was awful last season.

You said "That flip-TD he made was the only big play he made that season " so I was just showing you evidence that he actually did more than that. An 80+ yard TD is at least worth mentioning, isn't it?

Personally, I'd say Simpson's a second or third option at best but he's certainly capable of more than he did last year season. Hopefully, he'll step up this season and make more significant contribution.

There's hype? ;)

I know what you mean. I have no expectation that Simpson will be better than he was a year ago but I hope injuries really did hamper him and that he'll pleasantly surprise a lot of people by playing at a level much closer to his athletic ceiling. I'm not holding my breath on that though.
