This latest twitter from Childs on 4/17/134 is saying that Childs is making good progress and will shock some people when he "steps onto the field". One analyst says that Childs will be at the team's first voluntary Organized Team Activities on 4/22/13 but he is not sure if Child's twitter made reference to his returning to the OTA as a spectator or as a participent (limited of course).

That would be a dream comeback if GC could return to the team healthy and stay healthy. He showed great promise early on in camp and reportedly was developing some chemistry with Ponder.

It's certainly a long shot. And by that, I mean to make the team and even have a career in the NFL after his injury, let alone contribute.

However, it's hard not to root for the kid. It'd be an incredible story if he made a name for himself after what he's been through

Making it even tougher is the fact that the Vikings will likely be drafting a high-profile WR and then probably another one in the later rounds. It's going to get awfully crowded on the roster at WR all of a sudden. Childs may have to chill on the PS or IR for another year, or maybe the Vikes just cut him loose with an injury settlement.

This will be a make it or break it season for Childs. If he gets another injury or can't perform up to par because of his previous injury, he might not be a Viking for much longer. I personally want to see the kid do good. He has the skills and the tools. The only thing that will stop him from becoming great is his healthy. But I hope that can change. If is still healthy I could easily see him as the #3 or #4 WR.

I have faith in him.

The negativity on this board is sometimes unbelievable No one that I have ever talked to or heard from EVER intimated in any way that Childs is "like a Viking Legend". He was an outstanding, gifted wide receiver drafted in the 4th rd (138th) and appears to have the speed height and hands to succeed in the NFL. He is trying to come back with two severly injured knees and the chances of him making it are almost zero. I just happen to be pulling for him and hope that some how he could miraculously accomplish his dreams.

LOL. That's so true, he is a legend already in fans' eyes it seems. he's being treated like Randy Moss or Jerry Rice with knee injuries. he was what, like a 5th or 6th rounder with two simultaneous career ending knee injuries (a year after another career ending knee injury) and people are still putting hope in this kid to be the 3rd best receiver or better, on our team of guys including Greg Jennings, Jarius Wright, Keenan Allen/Patterson/Austin, and Jerome Simpson. And like you said, he never even played in the NFL preseason right? I think he got injured in training camp, yet he's already one of the all time greats

I'm glad someone else sees the light with me on this. We're not that desperate for a WR are we that a completely unknown guy at WR is our savior?

Honestly...show of hands on this board who had even heard or seen this guy until we drafted him? How do we know he was incredibly gifted? Shouldn't he have been a 1st rounder? It's not negativity I'm spreading at all....I'm just sick of people clinging on to some guy who's never even made it all the way through a training camp. I'm pulling for any Viking to make it through injury but we've gotta be kidding ourselves if we think this cat is going to an impact player this year and NOT draft WR.

I am pulling for the guy, but, let's be real. The guy probably will not play a down for us in the regular season. I wish him nothing but the best, but he will not be playing for us this year.

Not necessarily, Even with a high wr draft pick we still would be very thin. Example: Jennings, Wright, K Allen, Simpson. Though I think we will draft 2 wr, If Childs (god willing) can have a Adrian comeback he has a great chance at making the roster and getting a good amount of playing time. Childs is a complete athlete and without the injury kid was a top 3 wr in his draft. It is a long shot for him to heal 100% for 2013/2014, but I think we're all rootin for him. Seems like he's focused and in good spirits, sometimes that's all it takes.

With a high draft pick who can start, plus another late round hopeful, I wouldn't call them thin at all. Maybe not supremely talented, but they'd be looking pretty solid. Childs would have to battle to make the #5 spot or hope the Vikings carry six receivers.

First and foremost, I've yet to see anyone "cling" to Childs as a savior or even as a real option to make the squad. In fact, he is left out of almost every WR discussion I've seen on this board, it is often "All we have is Jennings and Wright and then bums like Simpson and Burton". Childs name very rarely even comes up, and if it does its the rare "I wish Childs injuries never had happened, I really liked his potential". Or something to that manner.

However, as for your question of whether anyone had even seen him before he was drafted, the answer is yes, I have. For multiple years. And I'd say anyone who scouted Ryan Mallett should have seen Childs. Anyone who follows the draft or college ball between the months of May and December should've known who he was. He was indeed being touted as a potential 1st round pick at one time, and he did have the talent to be a successful NFL WR before injury. That in essence is the reason he was drafted in the 4th round. A talented kid who experienced a very difficult injury the year before his senior season which lead to his struggles in his last year. The injury was why he was not drafted in the first 3 rounds, and a kid without his talent would have not have been a 4th round pick after such a severe injury.

Unfortunately he experienced a devastating injury in his first NFL camp, and that has rendered him essentially non-existent in the WR discussion. I do not see where your belief that he is considered a "savior" or "legend" amongst fans, because he is almost completely ignored in most discussions. However, given the kid's luck with injuries, I amongst others do hope that he can do the miraculous, and root for the kid. Because if he were to find NFL success after such injuries, it would be an incredible story and I for one would be very inspired by the kid. However, I am not counting on him ever suiting up for the Vikings in a regular season game, nor do I believe anyone here has indicated they are. We are simply saying it is something we would all be excited to see.

Here is a show of HAND. This kid was the 138 pick in the entire NFL (4th) round and just because you had never heard of him means ZILCH.
