Looks like Winfield's feelings were hurt. And he took less guaranteed money from us to head West.
Now this I believe. Still not sure I believe the same about Wallace.

Someone even posted that Winfield got less guaranteed money than what Spielman's recent offer was, which again re-affirms my point that Winfield was bothered by how things were handled by Spielman and that's my entire point.

Re: Antoine Winfield agrees to one-year deal with Seahawks
It was both. Both reasons played a role--as most of us probably assumed.Rapoport learned there were some emotions involved for Winfield after he was cut by the Vikings. Winfield wanted to retire a Viking and make Minnesota his permanent home, but he and his family will now live in Houston. He even contemplated retiring when he was released. A chance at winning a possible Super Bowl title with the Seahawks ended up playing a factor in Winfield joining the team.
It's sad to me that he was going to retire a Viking and make Minnesota his permanent home--and now because of this he's not. That's a tad-bit depressing. I think it's kind of special when players stick around in Minnesota and stay active with the team. Winfield would have been a great guy to do that.

Was Revis ever traded?
The Devil whispered in the Viking's ear, "There's a storm coming." The Viking replied, "I am the storm." #SKOL2018

Yeah, it'd be great if it could happen... but the Vikes don't have enough cap room to pay the man even if they could work it out with the Jets.
Seriously though, I expect Tampa to work out some kind of a trade for him. Supposedly the hold-up at the moment is that New York wants to ship Sanchez with him, but the Bucs don't want him. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100000 ... with-revis
Anyway, I wish Winfield luck over in Seattle and I hope he manages to find a ring at the twilight of his career, (just not at the expense of the Vikings). He deserves it.
This signature predicted the great 2014 - 2025 Vikings dynasty!

exactly. Not to mention, the "more guaranteed money" is actually just kind of a mirage bargaining tactic. If Winfield makes the final roster for the Seahawks, he'll see all 3 million of his contract.

Re: Antoine Winfield agrees to one-year deal with Seahawks
All the team is doing is dealing with this problem one season sooner. Winfield will be missed ... but unless you think he was the missing key to the super bowl you might as well get the replacement some snaps.

You are making the assumption that this was all about Spielman and not Winfield thinking he has a better chance of winning a Superbowl ring with Seattle than Minnesota.GBFavreFan wrote:Regardless of where their contract negotiations were, for Spielman to cut Winfield was a surprise to the media and to Winfield himself. Winfield doesn't have any more confidence in Christian Ponder than Percy Harvin. That is why I root for Ponder, I have never experienced so many people; on the team, in the media, in the Fan seats, just want this kid to fail. It would make my day for Ponder to get 6 TD in a game, run around flipping everyone the bird. I just want Ponder to make an emphatic statement that this is his team, and he's not going anywhere. Sorry about including Ponder in a Winfield thread, but I do think one of the reasons why Winfield left is because of his lack of confidence in Ponder.

Name 1 fan or player that has ever even hinted they want him to fail. People like myself, just want him off this team asap, because I believe he isnt the answer, anymore then Tjoke was. The Vikes win in spite of Ponder thanks to the run game. Ponder cant hit a WR with single coverage. He cant read a D. He can only compete the quick pre planned first option pass. He panics. I could go on, but just read the posts mid season here, before AD took over. I dont want any Viking to fail. But I am tired of crap QB play year after year.petev_sj wrote: You are making the assumption that this was all about Spielman and not Winfield thinking he has a better chance of winning a Superbowl ring with Seattle than Minnesota.

How has this developed into Ponder bashing yet again? Admittedly he hasn't had the strongest start to his career but he shows promise and is hardly going to succeed with constant ribbing. We're all in this together, sharing a common goal of Super Bowl success.PurpleKoolaid wrote: Name 1 fan or player that has ever even hinted they want him to fail. It'll be painful to see Antoine donning a different colour after so long but above all he's a class person and I wish him well. Perhaps Seattle are currently in a stronger position than us but you're only as good as your last game, next season may be a completely different story. Echoing the sentiments of others, Winfield is more deserving of a ring than many but that doesn't come before the aspirations of my Vikes!

cant blame the seahawks using the vikings as a blueprint.

Oh, but people enjoy bashing Ponder and Tarvaris Jackson soooo much. It's a favorite pastime among Vikings fans.ViciousBritishVike wrote: How has this developed into Ponder bashing yet again?

Re: Antoine Winfield agrees to one-year deal with Seahawks
Not exactly as a blueprint. More like as a farm club. The Vikings haven't gone out and signed any 35 year old free agents recently. Nor have they traded away a 1st round draft pick for a recalcitrant playmaker.hibbingviking wrote:cant blame the seahawks using the vikings as a blueprint.
