Re: Winfield released
Why does there have to be another significant injury? Name one other team in the league that lost an MVP candidate for half the season? No team is "extremely lucky" injury-wise if they lose their highest producing player half way through the season.PurpleMustReign wrote: Oh good grief. I understand what your trying to suggest, we weren't decimated by numerous injuries like Green Bay was. But that doesn't make us "lucky" on injuries, it just makes us not extremely unlucky. But lets just say the Packers don't lose all those players, but they do lose Aaron Rodgers in week 9, would you call them a "lucky" team injury wise? Hell no

Re: Winfield released
I hope we can get him for 3 mil a year for a few more years. Hes obviously my current favorite viking (I do love AD like everone else). I was so ticked off at the way they let him go. I mostly want him to retire as a Viking.

Antoine Winfield - DB - Free Agent
The Redskins will host CB Antoine Winfield for a free-agent visit Wednesday.
The Vikings still want Winfield back in a reduced role, but he could be an every-down player again with cornerback-needy Washington. The Redskins are also a more viable 2013 Super Bowl contender than Minnesota. Winfield, who turns 36 in June, graded out as the NFL's No. 1 cornerback in Pro Football Focus' 2012 ratings. He's a natural left corner who does his best work in slot coverage.

Re: Winfield released
Hard for me to completely agree with the 2nd sentence. I don't see how the Redskins are a more viable Super Bowl contender than us with a QB that has a bum knee and an unproven guy behind him. It is not like I am saying Minnesota is a Super Bowl contender but it is silly to proclaim that Washington is a viable Super Bowl contender.dead_poet wrote:![]()

Yes that is silly. They don't even know if RG3 is going to play this year.

He's playing. Dr. Andrews recently compared him to AD. He's ahead of schedule. A teammate recently said he couldn't tell he was injured.mansquatch wrote:Yes that is silly. They don't even know if RG3 is going to play this year.

Re: Winfield released
Redskins are no more viable to make a Super Bowl than Minnesota.
They also don't have the luxury of having a last place schedule again like they did last year. Teams will be gunning for them after their success this past season and it will be better teams at that (first place schedule and have to play all teams in NFC North).

Re: Winfield released
Fred Smoot, Cedric Griffin, Madieu Williams, ...Antoine Winfield? Kinda strange that the Redskins seemingly have a thing for our ex-DBs. Am I forgetting any names?
I also have to laugh at the "The Redskins are also a more viable 2013 Super Bowl contender than Minnesota" sentence that's presented as if it was a fact. No supporting argument or anything, just "Redskins are more likely to go to the SB than the Vikings". Agree or disagree, that's just bad & lazy writing.

i had the same thought. Smoot was a Skin before becoming a VIking...so, he's a little different. I can't think of any others.HornedMessiah wrote:Fred Smoot, Cedric Griffin, Madieu Williams, ...Antoine Winfield? Kinda strange that the Redskins seemingly have a thing for our ex-DBs. According to this: http://www.overthecap.com/nfl-cap-space.php?Year=2013 they only have about $3 million in space.NextQuestion wrote:Can the skins pay any FAs?

Re: Winfield released
Thanks for that link. According to that we are in better cap space than I thought...and we might have some leverage for Winfield as long as the, play every down issue, isn't a huge one with him.dead_poet wrote: According to this: http://www.overthecap.com/nfl-cap-space.php?Year=2013 they only have about $3 million in space.
