Re: Cassell era begins...
Don't know if you can consider a backup QB as having his own "era" but...that's cool. Hopefully he never sees the field (especially after his awful last couple of years. In 47 starts for the Chiefs, he went 19-28 while turning the ball over 57 times).
In the meantime, given that Webb isn't going to be more than a #3, I think it can't hurt to move him to WR. Really, what do you have to lose at this point?

Just the space for an WR that might actually produce.dead_poet wrote:Don't know if you can consider a backup QB as having his own "era" but...that's cool. Ha! There's just so much DEPTH there, you know? How will Summers get to be a superstar with Webb siphoning off reps?Cliff wrote:Just the space for an WR that might actually produce.
I'd start laughing, but I'd just end up crying like some woman going through menopause.

I think we'll end up with <insert late round QB draft pick here> instead of Webb.

I want MBT to flop horribly so I can stop thinking about him. I still see promise. But if Webb is going to stay (and at QB) there won't be a spot for him. Dude has a rocket for an arm though and I was intrigued enough in the preseason to want to watch more. I'm not as big of a fan of him as PA though. It's hilarious listening to him talk about MBT.Cliff wrote:I think we'll end up with <insert late round QB draft pick here> instead of Webb.

I like MBT as well... just kick Webb out to WR.dead_poet wrote: I want MBT to flop horribly so I can stop thinking about him. I still see promise. Solid signing. Cassel will be a good backup.

Move Webb to KR/WR? or just cut him.
Emergency running back?
I think he's a wasted roster spot (insert smilie crying into tissue)

Re: Cassell era begins...
word is that Cassel will get to compete for the starting job......
think it's true?

I think they might let him and Ponder believe that, but I think regardless of performance in practice, it'll be Ponder suiting up Week 1.The Breeze wrote:word is that Cassel will get to compete for the starting job......

Sure Ponder will start, but if he does what he always does, it won't last!

http://www.startribune.com/sports/vikin ... 91691.htmlBoth General Manager Rick Spielman and coach Leslie Frazier have made it perfectly clear that Ponder is and will remain the starter now and in the future. Frazier even said at the scouting combine that one of the prerequisites for any potential QB signee would be the full understanding that the starting job is not -- repeat, IS NOT! -- open for competition.
