Greg Childs
I can't seem to find any recent information on his recovery, does anyone know how he is coming along?

Vikings' Greg Childs Says Dual Injury Isn't Deterrent:I like to do things that people think other people can't do. I've got a strong head," he said.vikingsfansince07 wrote:I can't seem to find any recent information on his recovery, does anyone know how he is coming along?
Childs appeared in the locker room Monday during a break before a rehabilitation session at the team's practice facility, making his first public comments since the freak injury a week into training camp. Childs was drafted out of Arkansas in the fourth round and placed on injured reserve shortly after he was hurt.
"It kind of hurt my feelings a little bit, but you've just got to push through it," Childs said with a big smile on his face. "You've got to understand football is a game you're going to get hurt in. But it's how you come back and how you respond when you do get hurt."

so he is pretty much keeping it a secret. It sounds as though the recovery is rougher then I imagined.
Re: Greg Childs
I read somewhere that he said that "hes coming back". Hopefully...

He can say all he wants and I'm glad he has a positive attitude. But this isn't a routine surgery. The deck is stacked against him to play a snap in the NFL, much less be a regular contributor."Everything's coming along good," Childs said. "I'll definitely be back. It's not even a question or whatever. It's just mainly me continuing doing what I'm doing out here, continue my rehab, continue to stay focused and just getting ready to go."
Bilateral patellar tendon tears are extremely rare in the general population. No NFL player has returned from the injury, although at least two -- running backs Cadillac Williams and Correll Buckhalter -- have returned from two separate patelar tendon tears.

How good were Williams and Buckhalter after their injuries?dead_poet wrote: You read it here: http://www.1500espn.com/sportswire/Greg ... back010913

The Devil whispered in the Viking's ear, "There's a storm coming." The Viking replied, "I am the storm." #SKOL2018

Re: Greg Childs
Greg Childs seems like he's going to be the man who saves the WR position for the Vikings. This guy destroyed both knees and may never walk the same again. STOP thinking he's going to make an impact. I hope to eat crow but get real people....he is done

Don't expect daily progress reports. He's not Adrian Peterson.
Re: Greg Childs
Even if Childs does come back, he still has a long ways to go. He hasn't even played in a preseason game yet. The only potential he's shown was in camp and highlight reels in college. To count on him to be anything but a long-shot, even if healthy, is too high of an expectation at this point in his career IMO.

Re: Greg Childs
I remember looking up his stats as I wondered why they were taking another WR from Arkansas. Nothing really stood out, so I figured I was missing something.

A successful coach needs a patient wife, loyal dog, and great quarterback - and not necessarily in that order.

A college season with 48 catches and an 18.7 ypc average doesn't stand out?headless_norseman wrote:I remember looking up his stats as I wondered why they were taking another WR from Arkansas. Nothing really stood out, so I figured I was missing something.

Who said anything of the sorts that he was going to recover and have any impact what so ever? He is facing long odds to say the least.GBFavreFan wrote: Considering with this double patella tear, was actually a repeat on one of the knees, says either his knees weren't at full strength when we got him, there's something with his legs, running style, or stance that makes this injury more likely, or even if he is able to play in 2013, the chances of him experiencing the same exact injuries are pretty good. In any case, our hopes of him being a breakout guy should've been dashed when he went down last summer (despite the great stuff he showed in camp) and we should expect nothing from this guy, because if anyone follows him daily and thinks he's going to form a dream combo with Wright, or will bring the best out of Ponder as a future NFL star is fooling themselves and setting themselves up for major disppointment. Just move on folks, and if he does do anything its all gravy.

Re: Greg Childs
Why do people think Greg Childs is going to play for us? The dude suffered a dual tear of his patellar tendons. He will be fortunate if he can jog after that type of injury.
