In the end, peterson's opinion doesn't matter very much. The only people that have a large part in the decision of keeping him or letting him go are the GM, HC, and Harvin himself.vikingsfansince07 wrote:I can guarantee Percy stays. Re: Percy's future w/ Vikings looking uncertain
If he decides to go I would much rather have him leave the NFC and the Patriots would be fine with me. He will/would tear it up with Brady and that offense. The Vikes might get more of a return for him with the Pats than any team I could think of since they need to replace Welker. I want him to stay but if he is going to go I hope that they get max return for him being traded.Dark wrote:If Harvin does leave, I think he will go to the patriots. They lost Welker so he would fill that gap perfectly, and I think percy would absolutely love to have brady throwing to him. Purple bruise's article that he posted is also a positive sign of him going to new england.

Wasn't there some report that the Patriots were planning on taking Harvin in the draft? I could swear I remember someone saying the Vikings heard from the Eagles that's who they were targeting? Maybe I'm imagining things.Purple bruise wrote:Interesting read:
Percy Harvin, Pats go way back

" Let’s start with a little background on Percy Harvin, the disgruntled Vikings receiver who wants out of Minnesota. More to the point, let us provide some context on Bill Belichick’s relationship with Harvin prior to the 2009 NFL draft, along with a possible connection to the Patriots going forward."

I think that you might be right about that Demi. I have some sort recollection but I am not sure it was the Eagles.

Re: Percy's future w/ Vikings looking uncertain
There are only a few teams in the NFL that run an offense that would optimize Percy's ability and the Patriots are one of them. It'd be scary for the NFL and it would be tough for Vikings fans to watch.

Anyone who nay says Harvin staying on the team should look at his highlights on Youtube. He is a monster it refreshes your brain on how great the guy actually is its crazy. People say he isnt an outside receiver? When we had Favre he was an outside receiver in plenty of highlights.
The term fan comes from FANatic or fanatical.

I'm pretty sure everyone wants him to remain with the Vikings. The differences of opinion are at what cost.Mercy Percy wrote:Anyone who nay says Harvin staying on the team should look at his highlights on Youtube. I badly want Harvin to remain a Viking. That said, I agree that he could easily end up with the Pats, should Harvin leave the Vikings. He'd be a great weapon for them too.

Re: Percy's future w/ Vikings looking uncertain
I hesitate to post this, considering the author. Then realize that it's speculation at its finest.
Percy Harvin - WR - Vikings
Pioneer Press columnist Charley Walters suggests Percy Harvin could hold out of the first 10 games of the season.
Walters isn't reporting here, he's just throwing out options that Harvin has. By reporting for the final six games of the season a la Vincent Jackson in 2010, players still accrue a year toward free agency. Since Harvin is in the final year of his rookie, he'd greatly reduce the chance of injury just before cashing in on the open market. We wouldn't expect the situation to become this dire, but it's a chip Harvin can keep in his back pocket.

Patrick Reusse wrote a column about Harvin too. It won't sit well with Randy Moss fans:

And without that trade for Moss, Childress may still be the head coach!Mothman wrote:Patrick Reusse wrote a column about Harvin too. It won't sit well with Randy Moss fans:

A Randy Moss fan for life. A Kevin Williams fan for life.
Re: Percy's future w/ Vikings looking uncertain
Actually as a Moss fan, I have no issues with the article as it pertains to Moss. Randy is who he is. He is a great receiver and a poor mentor in some areas. I tend to agree with Reusse on Moss having a negative impact on Harvin. Where my disagreement comes is with the part of the article which states:Mothman wrote:Patrick Reusse wrote a column about Harvin too. It won't sit well with Randy Moss fans:

I could not disagree more with that assessment. This was the same coach that toyed with benching Favre because Favre had the ...audacity... to not blindly follow Childress. Randy Moss was given his ticket out of Minnesota for one reason only: He dared question Brad Childress. Period. Whether or not that should have been the response is certainly debatable, but let's not turn the egomanic into someone he wasn't: A coach who put the team first. Childress put himself first and punished those who were not "in lockstep" with him. Randy's main sin was he recognized Childress for the buffoon he was, and was not shy about expressing the truth.Harvin watched Moss pick up and leave with 15 minutes left in practice. He listened as Moss announced to anyone that would listen that Childress should be fired. And, finally, Harvin wound up in a confrontation with Childress in which the player threw a weight in the coach's direction.
There was one main reason that Childress unilaterally cut Moss: He wanted to get him out of Winter Park before Harvin was ruined as a Viking.
I have gratitude and frustration with how Moss let that play out. Gratitude that this was the catalyst for getting Childress fired. Frustration with him handling it in such a manner that Wilf had effectively no choice but to let Childress' decision stand. I might actually buy that Wilf let Moss go for the reasons mentioned by Reusse, but Childress? Not a chance...

Re: Percy's future w/ Vikings looking uncertain
That's more or less true. If Moss hadn't so flagrantly challenged the Head Coach's authority Wilf might have went that direction. IMHO Wilf made the right call in that he really was 'between a rock and a hard place.' If he didn't at least publicly support his HC it would have sent the message that players could challenge the HC anytime they disagreed with him. Had Moss been a little more "low key" with his issues, Wilf might well have fired Childress and let Moss stay. That is where Moss 'caused his own troubles' in the situation.80 PurplePride 84 wrote:If I recall Wilf almost reversed waiving of Moss and was gonna fire Childress instead, but he ultimately let it stand, then just ended up firing Chilly 2 or 3 weeks later anyway.

Percy Harvin - WR - Vikings
ESPN's Adam Schefter "doesn't see" the Vikings trading Percy Harvin.
Schefter is just passing along his gut feeling in a mailbag column, but his gut feeling is surely informed by league chatter. Schefter believes the Vikings would be "out of their minds" to trade Harvin for less than "premium value." Most reports have suggested premium value is something the Vikings will have trouble getting for a player who wants to break the bank with his next contract.
