Its a shame there aren't any WR's on that list. There is two LB's though! If we could get one of those guys and pick a WR up from the draft, I think that would work out pretty well.

Probably on the wrong side of 30 (32).

George Wilson - DB - Bills

Bills released SS George Wilson.

The move clears $2.9 million in base salary off the books, bringing Buffalo's total Monday savings to $6.4 million when combined with WLB Nick Barnett's release. Pro Football Focus graded Wilson as the No. 8 safety in the entire league in 2012, but the new Bills coaching staff obviously didn't regard him as highly. Wilson turns 32 this offseason. He can still cover and fills hard in run support, so he should have a good chance to land on his feet.

Keep in mind that not all LB are created equal. Rush LB in that survey are Demarcus Ware/Clay Mathews types who make their bacon getting to the QB in a 3-4 scheme. Not what we need at the Mike. Right now it looks like Erin Henderson is more replaceable via FA than Brinkley. More fuel to fire that LB will be getting attention in the draft…

I know he is universally despised in the media right now, but I wonder if Manti T’eo is going to be in purple come April. It isn’t out of the question.

The positive there is you have to think that with Harrison Smith on the roster, our FO will have some juicy inside track info on him. Whether it is good or bad remains to be seen.

Of particular interest to the Purple. Good reasons for Bowe, Jennings.

Probably not going to happen, but if healthy that'd be a pretty solid and fearsome safety duo.

LaRon Landry - DB - Jets

According to ESPN New York, free agent SS LaRon Landry is "believed" to be seeking $6 million a year.

For the elite safety Landry envisions himself being, it's actually not ridiculous money. Landry, somewhat surprisingly, made it through a full 16-game season in 2012 and forced six turnovers while recording 100 tackles. Last July, the Raiders signed SS Tyvon Branch to a four-year deal averaging $6.65 million annually. So Landry isn't trying to become the richest safety in the game.

If he could stay healthy it would be a good move, the question is can he stay healthy

If Laron Landry was our only target and he is the only player we signed in free agency, outside of a few guys for depth, I would be ecstatic. Could you imagine our Cover 2 with Harrison Smith AND Laron Landry?

Pretty fearsome if you ask me (again, provided Landry can stay healthy). But, like guard, I think the team feels they have enough talent there to compete and it won't be a glaring weakness enough that necessitates a $6 million/year safety with large injury concerns. Perhaps if his market is soft we can get a pretty good deal. Otherwise I'm sure it won't happen. But it looks good on paper (and in my head).

Knox is done, he's retiring.

Without better linebackers and more talent at cornerback, it wouldn't make a big difference. Good QBs would still pick them apart with a precision midrange passing offense. Linebacker is a much bigger need for the Vikings than any of the other positions on defense.

Unfortunately as far as free agents go (particularly MLB), there aren't many options available that would be enough of an upgrade to warrant attention. Landry would provide a noticeable upgrade on the back end.

Jennings Open to Playing in Minnesota:Yesterday, Jennings took on the media, again, making an appearance on "NFL Total Access" on NFL Network. He discussed the possibilities of his future location, which is listed on his Twitter as "in question," among other things. Everything was cruising along. You got all of the basic free-agent quotes: You got the age-old "It is what it is," bite; and the timeless "Its a business," line along with a few other quotables. Basically, your standard free-agent stuff was on display. Then the V-Bomb was dropped... Vikings, relax. When asked about the possibility of playing for Minnesota, Jennings said that he would be open to playing in a purple uniform.
Here is the whole article.

Kansas City Chiefs, Dwayne Bowe To Open Long-Term Contract Talks: Ihttp://www.prosportsdaily.com/articles/kansas- ... 0842.htmlt was previously believed that the Kansas City Chiefs and wide receiver Dwayne Bowe would be parting ways in the offseason, but a report on Thursday from NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport has changed that. Rapoport reported that the Chiefs are aiming to keep Bowe in Kansas City and the two sides are set to open long-term contract discussions.
Per Rapoport:
The Chiefs are actively pursuing a new contract with Bowe, according to Sources close to the situation. Bowe’s representatives have met with the Chiefs, and Rapoport expects conversations to continue in the coming weeks.
This is a bit of a surprise, but perhaps it shouldn’t be. This is a brand new Chiefs regime that clearly may view Bowe in a different light than former GM Scott Pioli, who didn’t appear willing to give Bowe the long-term deal that he wanted. Rapoport reports that Reid was very high on Bowe coming out of LSU.
Bowe could be off of the board.
