I don't think Moss was going into SF as the #1 guy anyways. I think we all know he was maybe the 3rd-4th option after Crabtree, Davis, and Manningham. His job was more of a coaching role than anything and guys like Harvin and Crabtree have expressed how big of a coach he can be.

Oh, Craig is just taking a jab at Moss for spouting off. He may believe he is better than Rice. Moss certainly is entitled to believe that. But to say it is another thing. It's just better to let others say it and let your play speak for itself.

As for Moss or Birk winning a ring, I suppose it's nice, but I don't really care. They weren't in Vikings' uniforms, so it just doesn't matter to me.

It's come down to this for me, after 40 years of being a fan: I don't want any team that has a Lombardi Trophy to win another before the Vikings win their first, and I sure as hell do not want a team that doesn't have a Lombardi Trophy win one before the the Vikings. Eff them all.

that pass was 10 feet over his head, he (nor any other receiver in history) could have made that catch. the 49ers simply didn't utilize his ability. how many times did he have one on one coverage, and they never even went to him (especially in the red zone). i was shocked on that last drive they didn't go to him, at 35 he can still get it done.

I appreciate that but it's hard to determine that during the spur of the moment. You can't ever completely give up on a play, show willingness no matter what.

Moss is not WAY better than Harvin. At this point in their respective careers, Harvin is a much better, more dangerous receiver than Moss.

It sounds like we may not have him anymore.

Plus, Harvin is really questionable in that he is injury prone, plays like he thinks he is 230lbs (which is what makes him great) but it sets him up for injuries. I love that every time he catches the ball its like watching a great kick return but his style will take a toll. I figured the staff would encourage him to beef up last season in order to be a bit more durable but instead he dropped significant weight last off season. I am not sure that is the right move. I wonder if he is gonna cut weight again this year or try to bulk up a bit.

I agree. Moss is currently a shadow of his former self. Anyone who doubts that should check his stats from his early years on NFL.com or peruse some highlight footage of his glory days with the Vikings and Pats. Right now Harvin is one of the most dangerous offensive weapons in the league. No way can Moss be described the same way these days.

BTW, I loved watching Moss play football when he was at his best, so I'm not bashing him. I'm just saying that at this present point Harvin is younger and a lot better than Randy.

I would say Moss is one of the top receivers for sure His statement wasn't far off. I know Rice was a great player but Moss is also. teams designed their defenses to stop him. they drafted players to stop moss. also lets not forget his record breaking season with new england 23 touchdowns & what about his ten seasons with a 1,000 0r more receiving yards . also at the combine Moss ran a 4.25 40 yard dash & he was running into the wind, he also had a 47 inch vertical. Scouts for the dallas cowboys told owner Jerry Jones that Moss was the greatest individual prospect they had ever seen. & that is saying something if you look at all the great players dallas has had.

As much as I am biased to all things Vikings, I still have to give he nod to Jerry Rice, IMHO. It would be folly to say Rice had more raw talent than Moss (even Rice admits that), but as far as longevity, effort and using -- and enhancing --whatever talents are possessed -- Rice was better. Still, Moss is one of the greatest receivers in history.
