Agreed--they seem to have a pretty balanced approach. I can imagine them taking WR, OG, LB and CB in the first 5 rounds and possibly picking up a player at one of those positions via free agency. I also think they are likely being straight forward in the press w/ regards to Percy. I think they will re-sign him as long as his asking price isn't ludicrous.losperros wrote: After the Childress "all in" debacle, I don't want to even think about "all in."
I think Spielman and Frazier are both forward thinkers that look at both the team's current state and what it needs for the future. So I believe they will definitely keep the offensive passing game and the defense against the pass in mind during the next draft and free agency.

I hear your point. It's difficult to decipher because it has been so quiet. In my opinion, the staff is handling it well. Nothing good comes from publicly calling out a star player who already has an attitude problem. Ego's are too big. I feel the Vikings are leaving this up to Percy. He has work to do to prove to the staff he can commit. Like I've been saying, I have a feeling he won't be here next season, but I hope I'm wrong.PurpleKoolaid wrote:Has PH ever gotten fines, been repremanded? For all these issues he has? Has Fraizer fined him for blowing up at him in front of not only his own players , but the entire world? Maybe the coaching staff isnt handling this right? I would really like to know how much trouble PH has gotten into, or if the Vikes just dont know how to handle extremely talented players with attitde problems.

Listen, we all have different opinions, and we all have different reasons for them. Yeah, some people are skeptical and there are some who unquestioningly agree with everything the Vikes do. We're all fans and, believe it or not, we all want to see the Vikings succeed. So can we please dispense with all this divisive BS. The offseason is long enough without bringing this into the conversation already.Purple bruise wrote: Brace your self for all of the negativity and second guessing of every decision made by the "usuals". You will most unlikely hear anything about how Frazier has turned the team around from 3-13 to 10-6. What a great job of winning 4 clutch games against tough opponents to reach the play-offs. What a good job Spielman has done restructuring and rebuilding the team. Nope, none of that

It is ok with some posters to talk about other's Hyperbole though?BGM wrote: Listen, we all have different opinions, and we all have different reasons for them. I have never foe'd anyone on this board, and don't feel the need to start now. Just pointing out that we're all fans, even with our myriad opinions. And painting with a broad brush and creating "cabals" of people with whom you do not agree makes the offseason really, REALLY long.
I am here, and have been since 1998 (newsgroup days), because this message board offers intelligent discussion that, usually, is free of vitriol, name-calling and general hooliganism. I would like to see it stay that way and one way is to encourage thoughtful discussion instead of silly sniping. Maybe I come off as a self-righteous jerk, and I suppose that's a valid assessment.

No, not at all. In fact I look forward to reading your posts. They are well thought out and usually quite informative. I apologize if I offended you but I do get frustrated reading some of the posts that seem so negative towards almost every aspect of the team.BGM wrote:I have never foe'd anyone on this board, and don't feel the need to start now. Believe me, I find it very trying as well. There are a few people (here and in real life) who seem to focus on the negative. Of course, with the heartbreak the Vikings have offered us through the years, it's pretty easy to be a doomsayer! I hope I did not offend you, either. It was one of those "straws that broke the camel's back" things.Purple bruise wrote: No, not at all. In fact I look forward to reading your posts. We're all fans of a great team. And we all care deeply about them, as we keep showing up here and proving every day. I think most of us who butt heads on here would gladly share a drink to the Vikings were we to ever meet face-to-face.

Skol!

What have Pelissero and Zulgad seen with respect to Harvin? They obviously have a low opinion of him as a person and as a teammate. Starting at about the 7:00 mark:

To say they feel strongly about Harvin would be a gross understatement.

I hope Pelissero and Zulgad have to see Harvin getting signed to a long term contract.Eli wrote:What have Pelissero and Zulgad seen with respect to Harvin? They obviously have a low opinion of him as a person and as a teammate. Starting at about the 7:00 mark:

Aside from their constant Harvin bashing, I like both these guys. Zulgad makes a good point regarding the Vikings limiting both Harvin and Wright as being slot receivers only. This is especially true of Wright. He proved with the Razorbacks that he can be a wide out and deep threat. We saw some of that with the Vikings too, so I hope he'll get more chances at it next season.
I have to agree with these guys about that absolute need to upgrade the WR corps on the team. However, I don't know why Pelissero said we'll "see more of Stephen Burton." Haven't we seen enough?
Re: Percy's future w/ Vikings looking uncertain
I think they just see him as an emotional, temperamental player who they believe would be problematic in the locker room IF he didn't get a new deal before next season. I don't know what they've seen but even we've seen enough to know that might be an accurate assessment.Eli wrote:What have Pelissero and Zulgad seen with respect to Harvin? I don't know why Pelissero said that either. I'll be surprised if Burton is on the 53 man roster when next season begins.

Re: Percy's future w/ Vikings looking uncertain
we seems to lose, or give up on, too many receivers only to see them do better elsewhere.
I think its a combination of poor coaching and talent recognition/development AND the lack of a real QB (which is also related to poor talent recognition and player development). If you are an NFL grade receiver, why would you even want to waste your very limited career time on a poor QB (TJ) or an extremely questionable QB (ponder)?? Moss was smart enough to leave, Rice knew better then to stay, and Harvin will likely leave and end up having some kick #### QB to work with. As a receiver, you are totally dependent on a QB to allow you to show your skill and build your stats. We don't have that QB so we won't attract or keep good receivers. IT ALL GOES BACK TO THE QB. I was privliged enough to watch Tarkenton, Kramer, mebbe Culpepper. Beyond those rare events, the Vikes have never really developed a good QB.
