Re: Vikings VS Texans predictions
Might have a chance if we didn't have a noodle armed midget leading this offense. Just hope the Texans implode there's no way we can keep up with that offense otherwise.

Re: Vikings VS Texans predictions
This game could just as easily be won or lost by a field goal. I will go with the Vikes 24-21.

Re: Vikings VS Texans predictions
I would just like to point out that the Texans are 12-2 and have had the lead in most of their games so their opponents have been forced to throw more often than run, and that helps explain why their run defense is ranked so high (5th). In fact their defense has faced the 7th most passing attempts in the league but have faced the fewest rushing attempts. They allow 4.14 ypc which ranks 12th. There's no reason why AD can't have a good game if we don't get way behind early and start letting Ponder throw the ball all over the yard.
Texans rush opponents:
week att-yards TD - OPP leading rusher
1. 14-69 0 - MIA Reggie Bush
2. 12-60 0 - JAC Maurice Jones-Drew
3. 12-36 0 - DEN Willis McGahee
4. 25-141 0 - TEN Chris Johnson
5. 8-26 0 - JET Shonn Greene
6. 22-65 0 - GBP Alex Green
7. 9-42 0 - BAL Ray Rice
9. 6-39 0 - BUF C.J. Spiller
10. 16-39 0 - CHI Matt Forte
11. 24-80 0 - JAC Jalen Parmele
12. 5-47 1 - DET Joique Bell
13. 13-51 0 - TEN Chris Johnson
14. 18-72 1 - NEP Stevan Ridley
15. 18-105 0 - IND Vick Ballard

Re: Vikings VS Texans predictions
Do the Texans need to win for anything?
Re: Vikings VS Texans predictions
Yes, they haven't clinched homefield yet. They're 12-2 and the Broncos are 11-3. Plus the Broncos have 2 cream puff teams remaining on their schedule, Cleveland and Kansas City (both at home).PurpleKoolaid wrote:Do the Texans need to win for anything?

Hopefully by this point Musgrave realizes even if we fall behind running AD has a better chance of getting us back in the game than throwing with Ponder....There's no reason why AD can't have a good game if we don't get way behind early and start letting Ponder throw the ball all over the yard.

Re: Vikings VS Texans predictions
Can we just put Joe Webb in and run the option?
Re: Vikings VS Texans predictions
Haha I agree, he is our best chance in any situation. In fact the last few weeks I've been saying AD should be our 2 min drill as well because the numbers don't lie. AD has a higher average than Ponder (6.27 to 5.95), he has more yards in the last 8 games (1313 to 1094), he has more 100 yard games (8 to 5), and he has the same number of 200 yard games (2).Demi wrote: Hopefully by this point Musgrave realizes even if we fall behind running AD has a better chance of getting us back in the game than throwing with Ponder....
But the #1 reason why we should go to AD no matter what the situation is, he has our 5 longest plays from scrimmage and 8 of our top 9. He's our only shot to score from anywhere on the field.
1. 82 AD run
2. 82 AD run
3. 74 AD run
4. 64 AD run
5. 61 AD run
6. 54 Ponder pass to Wright
7. 52 AD run
8. 51 AD run
9. 48 AD run

Well the world will end Dec 21 anyway. So I'll go crazy.
Vikings 33
Texans 21
AD 84 yards on 18 carries 1 TD
Ponder 212 yards 2 TDs
Walsh 4 FGs

Re: Vikings VS Texans predictions
Unfortunately I predict we'll get the snot beat out of us.
But AP will put up over 200 yards.

Re: Vikings VS Texans predictions
I just can't envision the Vikings winning this one, no matter how hard I try. Houston is too good.
We'll need an A+ performance from our defense, because points will be at a premium for us. Houston is good enough to stack the box and actually stop Peterson, and the idea of Ponder trying to win us a game doesn't exactly make me comfortable.
We'll give this a hell of an effort, but fall short. We'll cover the spread.
Texans 19, Vikings 14.

Re: Vikings VS Texans predictions
I'm feeling optimistic this morning so I'm going to predict an upset win for the Vikes. I think they'll win the way they've been winning: tough running from AD, another efficient, if relatively nondescript, performance from Ponder and the receivers, some big plays and turnovers from the defense and in the end, they'll hang on for dear life and come away with their playoff hopes alive and well. :0
