Vikings VS Texans predictions

Post by Orion »

Well the Vikings must fight once again to keep their playoff hopes alive.

I certainly expect the Vikings to lose, but I do think they have a glimmer of hope if AD has a huge day and the offense doesn't turn the ball over or we at least win the turnover battle. We are undefeated when we broke even or won that battle.

Also, the Texans haven't exactly been impressive the past few games. They won, for the most part, a tough game against the Colts, got blown out 42-14 by New England and gave up 37 and 31 points, respectively to the Jaguars (home) and Detroit (away) while barely winning in Overtime. To me, this is a team the Vikings can get a solid win if they don't make too many mistakes and penalties and capitalize on Houston's mistakes while making big gains in the offense. Houston has very talented players that will make life tough for the Vikings, but this is still a winnable game for the Vikings, given Houston's past few games and the Vikings going on a 2 game win streak and huge performances by AD.

Final score: Houston: 27 Vikings 21

So by the score, I still think the Vikings will lose but give them enough room to win if they play well enough on offense and defense.

Texans 31
Vikes 21
I just don't see us winning this one. The texans are a built team with a great defense and an outstanding offense.

Hey, the Jaguars found a way to score big on the Texans and stayed in the game to the end of overtime as did Detroit; I don't see why the Vikings could pull off a similar performance but win.

Key to the Vikings defense will also be controlling Andre Johnson.

Vikings 24 Texans 20

Peterson has 120 yards and 2 TDs. Ponder has a good game for his standards.

Foster will be dangerous too, especially if our run D from the Tampa Bay game shows up.

If I know the Vikings, and I think I do, because I've been following them since '84, this is how it's going to go down. We're going to upset the Texans on Sunday because that'll get hopes up and get everyone thinking playoffs. Then we'll get our hearts ripped out next week when we lose to the Packers in dramatic fashion. Ofc I'm usually wrong about these things, so I fully expect the opposite to happen now that I'm on record haha.

Vikings 31-28, AD 32 carries 160 yards. Ponder is again below 100 yards and we finally see Webb in the 2nd half where he rallies us to victory.

I think the Vikings match up decently for this one, especially if Chris Cook returns. Ponder has an above average game by his standards, throwing for 225 & a score & AP gets to around 130 with a score. Vikes take it 24-17.

Does anyone know how the Texans have faired against "good" running teams? The two duds they have had have been against what I guess one would consider prolific passing teams, so that seems to be their weakness.

I have this horrible scenario laid out in my mind where Ponder tries to throw towards Stephen Burton, who's three yards past the line of scrimmage, and Watt does his patended swat, but this time in ends up in his hands. Ugh.

I think Peterson does what he does. Bust off two big TD runs (one from 80 yards the other from 60+) and puts up 200 yards, Ponder has a descent game (250 yards, 1 TD), our D forces 3 turnovers, and ST comes up with 2 long field goals. We end up beating the Texans 27-21. Also the Giants will lose and come week 17 we control our own destiny for post season play.

34-17 Texans
AD may get held to under 100 yards because A) Texans D is really good and B) we fall behind early and try to pass our way to a win. The D or ST score at least 1 TD.

I agree mostly with your score prediction, but AD running for less than 100 yards? I think even the beat defenses can't hold AD to under 100 yards, especially since he's probably striving to get the record. I think AD gets about 125 yards or more.

Houston 34
Minnesota 10

I have a feeling AD's remarkable run (no pun intended) comes to an end :(

I'm going 19-17 Vikings. 4 field goals from the real Legatron, 135yds/1td for the cybernetic organism. Just enough from Ponder. The purple wave keeps rolling.
