Coaches Stubborness
Why do coaches do this to their football team? Why do they stick with their MAJOR struggling (let's be honest SUCKING) QBs, even for jsut a series? Why do they do this? There is NO reason to stick with Ponder right now. None. I would rather see Tarvaris Jackson. This is stupid. Your RB runs for over 200 yards, and you lose the freakin game and can't even pass effectively? WTF?

Re: Coaches Stubborness
Fraizer is brain dead. The Wilfs are too. Fraizer should have only been interm HC then done.
And ofc the Bears and Lions lose. Thanks Fraizer. GO bury your head in the sand with your boy Ponder. I hope Spielman fires you on Christmas eve.

I can only think of two reasons beyond stubbornness, neither of which I like much:PurpleMustReign wrote:Why do coaches do this to their football team? 1.) They want to see if a young player can play through adversity. I think that's reasonable for a while but there's a point at which they have to accept it's not happening and bench the struggling player for the good of the team (and possibly his own good). I think the Vikes are now past that point.
2.) The coach is getting pressure from higher up in the organization to stick with the struggling player.

As an organization, the last thing they want is for the backup QB to come in and look good. This creates controversy and puts pressure on them while they are trying to turn their 1st round lump of poo into a diamond. Pretty soon they will need to realize that they have poo all over their hands and get rid of the problem, but they are not there yet.
You see, it's not about winning... it's about looking good.

Reason #3 - nothing better behind the player.Mothman wrote: I can only think of two reasons beyond stubbornness, neither of which I like much:

First we had Childress and the Tjoke experiment and now we have Fraizer and the Ponder failed experiment......interesting...Spielman was involved in both.

Frazier and Spielman will look real good heading out the door then...soflavike wrote: My take:

It's most definitely about winning in the pros, make no mistake about that. If Frazier/Spielman want to live in fantasy-land they'll soon be unemployed.

Re: Coaches Stubborness
This is especially hard to take after watching ROOKIE Russell Wilson beat the Bears on the road with a late drive and an OT drive, then watching ROOKIE Andrew Luck play like Joe Montana down the stretch for the Colts.
And Russell Wilson was a third-round draft pick.
I know Troy Aikman said the receivers weren't getting separation. But the two INTs deep in Packer territory -- both were incredibly boneheaded, stupid throws that WEREN'T NECESSARY. I don't know what it is with Ponder that he just can't seem to accept that a play isn't working and refuses to throw the damn ball away. He seems to have this pathological need to be a freaking hero. Live to make another play, you freaking idiot!
Convert either of those into a TD, and the Vikings likely win this game, even with Ponder playing like a high-school QB.
I've had it with this clown.

Go ahead. I dare you.
Underestimate this man.

Yep, Sage would have at least given us a shot at the playoffs. Had to ditch him though. Hate to have anyone legitimate behind Frazier's chosen boy.

Spielmans boy too. I think Fraizers hand is forced here. Not that hes a good HC or close to one. A nice guy maybe, horrible HC.Demi wrote:Yep, Sage would have at least given us a shot at the playoffs. Had to ditch him though. Hate to have anyone legitimate behind Frazier's chosen boy.
Re: Coaches Stubborness
Not sure if all on Spielman. But I am convinced they have decided to play Ponder all year. By "they" I think Frazier is in on it, with Spielman having final say.Mothman wrote:2.) The coach is getting pressure from higher up in the organization to stick with the struggling player.

My God, I've been supporting Ponder longer than just about anyone on this board, but I've had it. I say put Webb in, you can't possibly tell me that he could be any worse. It is physically impossible to be any worse than Ponder right now. I could do a better job, and I am an overweight, out-of-shape, 5'8" couch potato. At least I could look for another receiver every once in a blue moon.
