Isn't a prediction, by its very definition, a gut feeling? I mean no one knows, do they?

Now, whether my prediction has a good chance of coming true... Well, I haven't missed a pick yet this season in Pick 4, so does that help?

:v): Are you going to use that pick as one of the ones in the pick 4?

I'll be at this game, and I've never seen anything live but a Vikings blowout.... so I'm going to have to go with Vikings 45 9ers 10

Hi Guys,

Regardless of the outcome, I hope everyone stays healthy!

A lot of you are predicting a bad blowout, but if you guys don't turn the ball over constantly, it'll be a low scoring game. We don't play like the Patriots, Packers, etc, and blow teams out. If we have a 14 point lead, expect us to run the ball until that lead diminishes.

Great, down by 2 touchdowns facing a top defense and trying to stop Frank Gore. Sounds easy enough.

Heh... NEVER pick the Vikings in Pick 4! ;-)

That being said, Allen's play or lack there of will make a difference as it has in the first 2 games. He has truly been a non-factor. Yes I know that he reached his hand up and knocked down a pass. That was wonderful except he was being effectively blocked at the time as he was all day. That play was certainly negated by his stupid 15 yard penalty called at a very crucial part of the game. Sorry but I am really down on his play this year.
I was impressed Griffin's play as limited as it was. My hope is that some day, sooner than later, he will be starting in place of Allen.
Wow, dude. This is a SF-Minn prediction thread, and you just burned 116 words on JA.

You've really got a boner for the guy, don't you?

Oh well. You're not killing trees doing it, so it's all good.

Back to topic.

We're in trouble. We're gonna lose. Probably big. The only saving grace is that it simply can't be as bad as the New Orleans game last year.

Can it?

Wanna know something weird?

In probably 20 games I've seen live in my lifetime, I've never seen the Vikings lose, either.

I think maybe I just pick the right games. Like this year, I'm going to the Tampa game. No way I was picking a division game. Or the Niners.

I can never pick against my team. My brain and everything else tells me that the Vikings will lose this game. But, it is in the dome which will help us and I don't think we're really as bad as everyone else thinks we are. I "predict" a win for us with the final score being 24-21. Our 2 minute D will finally step up and stop the 9ers from winning in the last 2 minutes.

Let's make a statistical case for the Vikes! :)

They're playing at home.

Defense: They have the 12th ranked defense in the league right now in terms of yards allowed (one spot behind the 49ers). They're 17th in points allowed because they keep giving up scores in two-minute offense situations. If they clean that up against SF it will help their chances immensely. The Vikings have allowed 5 more points than the 49ers.

They're ranked #12 against the run and SF likes to run the ball. After two games, the Vikes are allowing and average of 3.1 ypc on the ground. Only 6 teams are allowing a lower ypc average 9and Sf isn't one of them—they're right behind the Vikes at 3.2 ypc).

Remarkably, considering how frustrating they've been to watch, the Vikings are ranked #10 against the pass. They're ranked just ahead of the 49ers in that department too, allowing 6.9 yards per catch compared to 7.0 for SF.

Conclusion: the Vikings defense is as good as the 49ers. :)

Offense: The VIkes offense is ranked 17th, just a few spots behind SF's 14th-ranked offense. The Vikings are averaging 358 yards per game. SF is averaging 363.

SF is 8th in scoring. The Vikings are 15th. They average 23 ppg compared to 28.5 for SF.

The Vikings are ranked 13th in passing (SF is 25th) and 14th in rushing (SF is 3rd, averaging a whopping 5.7 yards per rush!).

Ponder has the best completion % in the league right now (75.8). Alex Smith's % is a pathetic 70.2 and he's only thrown 2 more TDs than Ponder. neither QB has thrown an INT. It may surprise some to learn that Ponder has thrown for more yards and a higher average than Smith (Ponder—515 and 8.9 yard average; Smith — 437 and a 7.7 average).

The Vikings have the league's second-ranked receiver: Percy Harvin!
The 49ers have some has-been named Moss. ;)

See? This game could actually be close!

Okay, I'm just having fun and the 49ers are the better team but the Vikings actually do have a chance in this one if they play smart, disciplined football. It's nota great chance but it's possible. They might be more competitive than people expect...

Thanks for the optimism , I love it ! I actually believe if we play a perfect game we can compete very well and what I mean is no turnovers and very few penalties and good special teams play .

I agree. Man, it would be SO much fun to see the Vikes knock off the 49ers after GB and Detroit failed to do so...
