Wow great win. The kind of win that the Vikes managed to blow time after time last year. The team played hard and I still see a very bright future for Ponder.
Not to put a damper on this exciting win but....I thought Jared Allen sucked big time and had one of his all to many "not show up games". Besides jumping off sides and almost making a play, he was invisible all day. I am not sure that he was in on even one tackle. Robison played a much better game. I would let him go for a high pick or good player and let Griffin take that position.
Skol Vikes and :nono: to the non-believers.

They doubled and chipped him quite a bit from what I saw (increased attention to him allowed Robison to have a very nice game). And he usually does start slow. It's about the only frustrating thing about him. He had his typical motor and was relentless, leading to several hurries. He'll get home.

I saw him being doubled and chipped early but eventually he saw a lot of one on ones. Robison was chipped as well and made plays (he was chipped on the nice pass deflection he had and also on the tackle for loss/no gain on MJD). I'm not saying anything near he should be benched, traded, etc. just it was a disappointing showing.

What a great pick getting Walsh in the draft. Shortwell would have had all the returns run up their butts and surely would have cost them the game. Smith is the safety that the Vikes have been missing since Sharper and he will seemingly continue to improve with game experience. Kudos to Greenway and Henderson also.
I watched Kalil and he appeared to have a very good game. Great job Mr. Spielman, it looks like you are on the right track to putting the Vikes in a posititon to contend each week and that is all I can hope for in these "rebuilding" years.
I will also complement the Jags. They do have a solid defense and several good players on both sides of the ball. They will win some games and upset some teams this year, hopefully the Packers, Lions and Bears.

Wow.

All too many not-show-up games? Forgive me, but have I been living in an alternate universe?

Interesting. A Vikings fan who is a bona fide Jared Allen hater. I've never actually seen on of those.

Agree for the most part, but I'm not so positive about Harrison Smith. Other than the great play he made in the OT, he looked pretty lost out there. Let's hope he learns fast.

He looked hot and cold, which is on par for a rookie. I figured him for the more physical, hard hitting type safety but he didn't really play like that today (MJD put him flat on his numbers on one play). Also unknown if he should have had the deep corner protection on the last Jax TD (it was thrown to his side of the field). He did make a nice read on the last third down, I don't see Sharper yet but I think it would be unfair to judge him based off one game.

He's a Rookie and he's still shown the best safety play I've seen in about 5 years. I have a feeling he's going to get better. There's going to be some "bone-head" moments, but I think those will become fewer and fewer as the season progresses.

A little exteme Mr. Kapp  . I never said for a second that I hate JA. I will say that he has tons of games with 0 sacks and few if any tackles in lots of other games. Watch the game over, pay attention to him and see what he did allll day, I asure you NOTHING. It was greatly evident when sure passing downs came up and he was bullied all over the field.
At this stage in his career I would definately like to shore up other weeknesses on this team by trading him.
Just my opinion of course.

Personally, I thought his initial offsides wasn't a penalty, but I re-watch it later without the announcers comments (they seemed to be of the same opinion). Beyond that, was he not double teamed at all? I thought that helped Robison have a more active game. (I confess I wasn't actually watching his performance at the time, but I will go back later and re-watch the game to see).

this is actually pretty typical for any pass rusher. Sacks generally come in spurts. And JA has never been much of a run stuffer.

On the plus side, I loved how Williams figured it out and rushed Cook. That series SHOULD have been huge if the defense hadn't have fallen apart and allowed that touchdown right afterward.
