WR Kamar Jorden (hand), LB Solomon Elimimian (hamstring), G Geoff Schwartz (sports hernia surgery) and TE John Carlson (knee) still out.
I'm beginning to wonder whether Geoff Schwartz is going to make this team or if he'll receive an injury settlement. He's going to have very little practice time with the team when he does come back.

Davidson loves him and the guy IS fairly talented (certainly better than DeGeare, Holmes, Murphy, Cook, Horn, etc). It's a standard injury and one that players easily come back from. We could use the depth too. He's a capable tackle even if he's better at guard. Swing/versatile guys have value. With only a 1-year deal, money isn't an issue either.

He's only out 4-6 weeks, which puts him back in action September 4-18 range, which means he could conceivably be available for our opener or only miss one or two games provided he doesn't suffer any setbacks.

Have confirmed that Adrian Peterson will not play in either of the final two preseason games. Vikings taking the safe route.

It's the safe route and the wise route. If they want to get him acclimated to contact they can do so in the more controlled environment of practice.

pleasebereadyweek1 pleasebereadyweek1 pleasebereadyweek1...(the tandem of Burton and/or Carr & Winfield doesn't inspire much confidence).

Chris Cook - DB - Vikings

Vikings RCB Chris Cook suffered a concussion in last Friday's win over the Bills.

He won't play in Friday's dress rehearsal against the Chargers. It's the first known concussion of Cook's three-year career, so it's possible he'll avoid a lengthy absence. Chris Carr or rookie Brandon Burton will start opposite Antoine Winfield if Cook isn't ready for Week 1.

Chris Cook still not cleared. Everson Griffen back today. Sol Elimimian still out. deMarcus Love progressing well and could play Friday.

Frazier says #Vikings starters will play to halftime and probably a series into second half on Friday.
Peterson had 18 carries in practice yesterday and handled well. No residual effects. Will keep loading him up, Frazier says. #Vikings
Cook likely out for this game. Carr or Robinson will start. Robinson definitely will get more reps, Frazier said. #Vikings
Mike Priefer's quest to find a reliable punt returner is interesting. His top guy right now is Marcus Sherels, a longshot to make the team.
---Seriously, how many punt returners have we had in the last 5 years? Need a guy that can get it done.

I really hope he's ready to go for the start of the season too! I really hope we don't start Carr again, he's a decent veteran backup, but I'd much rather take this opportunity to see how Burton has progressed, he still intrigues me a bit as a player with potential

Leslie Frazier said Kyle Rudolph apparently had an eardrum issue, not a concussion. But had to put him through NFL protocol. #Vikings

IMO they should have kept darius reynaud. He was really good and is doing very well in Tenn.

I know your question was rhetorical but I had to look it up. 9 different punt returners since 08  :
Marcus Sherels, Greg Camarillo, Bernard Berrian, Denarius Reynaud, Jaymar Johnson, Charles Gordon, Aundrae Allison, Bobby Wade, Mewelde Moore

Great news regarding AP. Glad to hear Robinson will be getting most of the reps. Should be a good test for Smith, Raymond, and Robinson against Rivers.

Have they been giving Josh Robinson any opportunities as a punt returner? I can't remember but I know he was very good in that role in college...

Before the injury, I believe so. He apparently looked better than Wright.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully, they'll give him another look as a PR..

... or maybe they're more interested in limiting his focus to CB right now?

Wasn't Reynaud part of that Rosenfels trade under Childress where the Vikes basically paid the Giants(?) to take Rosenfels off their hands?

(Moment of silence as I ponder how screwed up things were with Childress at the helm)
