Well we will find out on Friday, We get the best defense in the NFL (the Niners) to start this pre-seasonI agree that the numbers (especially the INT's) cause some concern but at the same time you can't always look at them at face value without watching. Tom and Judd both commented on this the other day. While Ponder has had bad throws, it hasn't always been his fault. Guys running wrong routes, dropped balls that were on target, offensive line missing assignments forcing him to throw it away and batted down balls (both QB and line can be blamed).

On that note, I'm also interested in seeing what the Vikings D looks like in this first game. This is especially true about the LB unit and the younger guys in the D secondary.

P.A. was on with Barriero yesterday and just said nothing but NEGATIVE things about Joe Webb. Said his passes are inaccurate and something has changed this off season for him. I wonder why Webb doesn't get with a QB coach during the off seasons. This guy could come in at a PonderInjury's notice and we need him to pass the ball efficiently
Pull yr 84 jerseys out.

That's one guy's opinion. Reports out of camp haven't indicated anything along those lines.NextQuestion wrote:P.A. was on with Barriero yesterday and just said nothing but NEGATIVE things about Joe Webb.
He wasn't overly accurate to begin with. I'd be curious to learn what "changed" this offseason. The only thing I can think of is that he was told he'd be practicing strictly as a QB. I don't know what else it could be. Pure speculation. Maybe he looks worse compared to how much Ponder has improved.Said his passes are inaccurate and something has changed this off season for him.
Maybe he does? We aren't privy to his offseason routine. I don't know how many NFL QBs do this anyway.I wonder why Webb doesn't get with a QB coach during the off seasons.
Well, yeah. One thing I've heard about Webb is that he's kind of like Tebow in that he isn't a great practice player and his true improvisation talents don't shine until he's in the game and can make plays with his legs as well as his arm. I suppose I'd take a guy like Webb, who might be a mediocre practice player that can perform in games, over a guy like Tarvaris, who always looks great in practice and mediocre (or outright poor) in games. YMMV.This guy could come in at a PonderInjury's notice and we need him to pass the ball efficiently

Dear God. Let's just call everyone Tebow used to play with and make them the New York Tebows. He's not even the starting quarterback!80 PurplePride 84 wrote:Cue more drama in 3...2...1 due to this totality speculative (wishful thinking) article.

I'm waiting for the NFL Live or Sports Center dedicated to the "Should the Jets reunite Tebow and Harvin!!!!11111111" question.
What utter nonsense.

Re: **Official '12 Vikings Training Camp Thread
I can't see the Vikings trading Harvin unless a proven reciever was being given to them from the other end. The Vikings aren't deep enough and have too many concerns at the position to trade the best WR on the team. It's just not in the cards.

That's great stuff.

Re: **Official '12 Vikings Training Camp Thread
That article was terrible. "Hey, harvin on the jets would be great, they should get him!". The writer didn't even offer any possible trade scenarios or reasons the vikings would do it.
Hey guys, the vikings would be better with Tom Brady and Calvin Johnson. We should go grab them!

Re: **Official '12 Vikings Training Camp Thread
Nothing should be off the table if you're Rick Spielman. If the Jets put an offer on the table he couldn't refuse, he would have to consider it. With that said, it would have to be a heck of an offer (2 1sts). I doubt the Jets would even consider that, but without Harvin the Vikes are, well, the Jets...80 PurplePride 84 wrote:Cue more drama in 3...2...1 due to this totality speculative (wishful thinking) article.

I doubt we'll see much. Ponder will probably play 1 series and the Niners will just play base defense. No one shows their hand in the preseason, especially game 1 and especially when the two teams will play each other in the regular season.jackal wrote: Well we will find out on Friday, We get the best defense in the NFL (the Niners) to start this pre-season
Re: **Official '12 Vikings Training Camp Thread
Im sure he will be in atleast the entire first quarter if not a little more, he is only in his second year... excited to watch the game tonite either way, sounds like there are a lot of young guys to watch for, a lot more than the last few years anyways. Was really looking forward to watching Childs play though, oh wellS197 wrote:I doubt we'll see much. Ponder will probably play 1 series and the Niners will just play base defense. Good.
Kevin Murphy, who was second string left tackle on Friday, now not even getting work with threes. No surprise. He had a terrible night.

Williams said the #Vikings expect to have Josh Robinson back this week. Sat out Friday as precaution with hamstring.
Mike Priefer was happy with Blair Walsh for obvious reasons. Not happy with Stephen Burton's decision making on returns. #Vikings
Jamarca Sanford and Mistral Raymond remain the first team safeties for this session. #Vikings
