They probably want him to earn it. I have little doubt he will be the starting safety. Kalil is the only rookie listed as a starter on that current depth chart.NextQuestion wrote:how is Harrison Smith not our starting FS?

I think they're being a little conservative with Smith and deferring to the incumbent safeties by not handing him the starting job. Hes' beginning to get some first team reps already in training camp, so I have a feeling that he'll be named the starter before long.

Makes you realize just how thin the Vikings are at some positions. Offensive line and linebacker, especially. With the injuries to Love and Scwhartz, they're way too vulnerable already, and they haven't even played their first preseason game.
At least they have some depth now in the secondary. Maybe not a lot of talent, but some depth.
