The Twins starting rotation has been exposed as a bunch of wanna-bes lately. The year started out good with Liriano showing flashes of his former self and Blackburn being very solid, but now the wheels are falling off and the entire rotation is a big steaming pile.
I dont think they will go after anyone. I hope they do as our rotation is terrible. Liriano is our only decent pitcher IMO. And sadly, I think Pavano is the next best. Blackburn and Baker can pitch well and show good control, then give up a quick 5-7 run inning. Pitchers that rely on contact as much as they do, control is key, and for whatever reason, at some point in nearly every game, they'll leave a bunch of nice ones right over the middle and give up a pile of runs. With the exception of the last couple starts for those two, they'll pitch well enough to win for all but one inning where they get killed.
Unless there is a dramatic change, by July 31st trade deadline, we might be so far back a big trade wont make any sense.

Personally, I think Carl Pavano has been pitching pretty well. He's just not getting offensive support. I'd like to see the Twins go after Lee. He's the ace this staff needs. But whether they'd be able to re-sign him next year is another matter. But he'd be worth the money to try to keep.
And I agree with Purplemustreign about a staff full of Brad Radkes. I never was that fond of Radke. He wasn't an 'ace' of a staff. A second or third in the rotation kinda guy, but not an ace.
Boy it is feast or famine with the Starting pitching lately. Carl Pavano has pitched probably the best two games of the Twins season back to back. I guess the stasche works!
Mauer accidentally got two hits as well. I still think he should go to the DL, or sit for a week. And I would like to see them trade for Cliff Lee or Roy Oswalt. Or both, lol..

Well there was another beauty for Baker. He, Blackburn, and Slowey are pitching absolutely terrible. The line-up today was horrid. Both Kubel and Morneau out. WTF. Yuk, a terrible game to watch.
The WS finally dropped one but the Tigers won today.

Baker, Blackburn, and Slowey are all the same pitcher, and all three have been exposed like a cheap stripper. Of the three, I like Blackburn because he seems to be the only one that has ever had success. Baker has been good before too, but never consistent.
We need another starter. Not a monor leaguer, but a legitimate starter, someone like Cliff Lee or Roy Oswalt.

Well, now the Tigers are only half a game back, and the Sox are only two back. By the end of this week the Twins could be in third place. Funny how fast the optimism and excitement of the early season has faded. Hopefully the Twins brass truly realize just how high the expectations are for this season and actually go out and get an Ace. To hell with "the way the organization does things". Obviously that's not working.
And I hope this puts the whole "Rick Anderson is a genius" talk to rest. What a load of nonsense, our pitching staff is a monstrous pile of #### (with Pavano being the lone bright spot lately). It's pretty much a given lately that the opposing team is going to hang 5+ runs on us, and we just can't consistently win like that.

I agree they are all the same, unfortunately. We are now a half a game back with the Sox only 1.5 behind us. I didnt think we'd hold the division lead until the 4th of July, but now it seems there is a real chance we'll be in 3rd place.
Rick Anderson needs to be fired. Our rotation wouldnt cut it in the minors right now, its embarrassing. And some of the games, when you look at the line up, I scratch my head as to what Guardy is thinking. He is surely smart enough to realize with our current pitching, we need to score 6-7 runs to win most of the time, somedays, his line ups would be hard pressed to score that many in a 3 game series. Right now, the Twins are getting out-pitched and out managed by our opponents, badly.

LAst night was the first time he had a decent lineup in weeks. Everyone but Punto could hit. I don't know why we have days where More than oine started rests.
On the subject of Anderson I think he did a great job in his first few years. The bullpen and starters were overachieving quite a bit. But I think teams have figured him and his pitching styles out. They know now to swing freely at the first pitch, and as a result, the first innings of the last couple of weeks have been disgusting.

Then comes a blown save and a loss. I forgot how much I hate that scenario. We've been spoiled in recent years with very few such outings.
I think that was the first one of this season. It still sucks like hell though.

I think Ron Garderhire should be fired immediately after this game. His pathetic pitching moves have cost them again. His daily lineups have been an embarrassment to baseball, and it is blatantly obvious that the Twins will not win a World Series with him at the helm.
I only wish the Twins had the guts to make a move like that. But, as usual, the gutless front offuce won't do the right thing.

I agree 100%. There was absolutely no reason to pull Laraino at that point, especially given how weak our bullpen is. It was totally a pitch count decision and not an in game decision, stupid and it definately costed us the game. Guardy is way over rated, Im not sure what the front office even sees in him. Trading for Lee or any other pitcher with Guardy as the manager would be throwing money away.
If I hadn't already spent my money on the 20 game pack, I would probably stop watching them. Unless they got rid of Gardy. I am sick of his pathetic man love for defense over offense, his horrific pitching managing, and his strategy of getting thrown out of games that are already out of reach, to name a few things. They saud they wanted to give Gurrieur a rest yesterday... SO WHY DO PUT HIM NI THE BALL GAME??? Put in Rauch or hell even Duensing. Something other than a pitcher who you feel has been overworked lately. Idiot.

Well, now we are behind Detroit and the Sox in the division. Impressive 3 weeks we have had lately. Trading for a guy like Cliff Lee wont really even help enough to matter IMO. Guardy is absolutely terrible. No lead is safe with our pitching. Frustrating. Guardy can never put a complete season together, we are either 6-10 games back at the break and come out on fire and catch up, or this season we had as much as a 4.5 game lead, only to squander it away in a couple weeks. He is not a good manager.
