Timberwolves

Post by thatguy »

Hey guys,

I was only in MN again for a day for this past sunday's game and I was wondering. What do most Minnesotans think about the Timberwolves? Is there a large amount of support for them or are they generally unpopular among most?

I'm still a fan of them but I'm just wondering...

Basically, Kevin McHale has ruined this team, almost the same like Matt Millen ruined Detroit. But at least Millen drafted ok, his players usually got hurt which is out of his control. McHale will draft a stud then trade him away for a bunch of losers. The only good player he has ever acquired via a trade is Al Jefferson, and he gave up KG to get him.

I like the Wolves, but I can't support them as long as McHalf-wit is there in any way.

That may not be that far off, hopefully.

Oh, please don't get our hopes up! :D

In two words, I can describe my feelings about the Wolves right now. They suck! And I don't care if they stay or go, now that KG is gone.

Dont look now but the 'Wolves have woon 4 of 5. They are 5-2 since Christmas. Of those 5 wins 3 were on the road. Sure the competition might not have been elite but its the NBA nonetheless. Not saying they are ready to hang a banner but it sure would be nice if these guys finished the rest of there games around the 500 mark just to have SOME positivity going into next season.

I hope he isn't doing moves just to do them, but you can't agrue with him now getting us a 4th 1st round pick, and the 5th overall no less.

Man, I love the trade, not a big fan of Foye or Miller. Still pissed about McHale's idiotic draft day trade to get him. Glad to see him gone. Start from scratch and get the McHale garbage cleaned up.

I think Foye could have been a decent player, he certainly has the offensive skills. I never understood getting Miller. But, hopefully Kahn will have even a little more draft luck (or skill) than McNumbnuts.

Think that Rubio guy will be any good?
I never was much a fan of the Wolves(don't really know why) and after the Cassel/Sprewell/Garnett days the team quickly turned into an abortion bouncing a basketball.

He's only 18 years old. He has incredible passing skills at that young of an age. He can work on the rest of his game and mature into a fine NBA player.

However, it's being reported that he may not be able to get out of his Spanish contract to join the Wolves next season. To do so, he will have to pay his old team $6.6 million.

Which the Wolves will pay for sure. It is a smart contract for Spain and other European teams to follow. They have a chance to get a lot of money paid, or their best players stay with them and generate ore revenue.

I do thin Rubio will be good, and I like Johnny Flynn too. I'm not sure why they drafted so many guards, especially when they need a big center to bang bodies with the rest of the Western Conference. But I am glad they got Rubio.

IINM, the Wolves can only chip $500k outside of his salary. That's why he really needed to be picked high, so his salary would be enough to cover it (you know, since the NBA has that crazy rookie salary slot system...)

You mean the crazy rookie slot position that limits the amount of money players get and that is being looked into by the NFL?
:P

I did not know that to pick him would cost the team an additional 6+ million.

Because there's no way Rubio plays here. Between the buy out, NBA rookie salary system, and the fact he made it clear A) He wanted a big market and B) His mother hates cold weather, there's no way he gets out of his contract with Spain in the next year or two, and even if he does he doesn't want to play here. Hopefully the Wolves make damn sure he's coming here before he makes it any more clear and kills his trade value...wouldn't take much to make this a very McHale like situation...

Oh, otherwise, very nice draft. And outside of the little matter of actually getting him to play here, I'd love to see Rubio play for the TWolves.

(Edit, I did read something about the Timberwolves actually being able to pay the buyout themselves, anyone know anything about that?)
