Longtime Twins owner Carl Pohlad, 93, dies

Post by PurpleMustReign »

Well, he did a lot of good for baseball in Minnesota. It will be interesting to see how the Twins are run with his sons in charge. I do feel bad that he didn't get to see the new stadium he wanted.

RIP Carl!!

We already know how the Twins will be run with the sons in charge. They've been running the team for some time now.

I'm surprised to see so few posts in this thread. Presumably, it reflects Pohlad's lack of popularity.

He certainly had a knack for recognizing talent at the GM level, the guts to stick with that talent through thick and thin, and the wisdom to delegate baseball decisions to those GMs. He also had an incredible knack for making money. I'll keep my comments positive under the circumstances and leave it at that.

Win Twins!

R.I.P. Carl.

The Twins have been getting blood out of turnips since he bought the team. I wish theVikings had been run as sharply in the same amount of time.

Not One Red Cent McCombs and all the others, man Vikings have had some bad ownership.
Every year they contend for a playoff spot in the toughest league in baseball. I just wish we'd spend more money and make more moves and contend for the World Series. Open up that purse already!

Yeah i agree. Its kind of like how we were suppose to feel bad for Red McCombs because the Vikings "only" made 30 million dollars one year. Must be tough! I wonder what everyone will say when Red dies? I can't stand the SOB. The Vikings would have won a Super Bowl had they had an owner willing to spend money. Dont say well he paid Moss and Culppeper either. The guy went to the Minumum salary cap because he had to. (NFL Rules) But than again like i said he only made 30 million dollars that year.
