It's blizzarding out

Post by DeeEss57 »

Yep, it's snowing, blowing and drifting right now. This sucks.

At 4:00 this morning, it was a balmy 34 degrees and just a little windy. At 6:00, it all changed. The temp started to drop and the wind really picked up. Driving home (a 10 minute drive) took 50 minutes. There were many times on the way that I literally couldn't see anything on the road in front of me. And I had to take the long way home just to get up the hill.

I hate winter.

I don't mind the days and weeks *between* the insanely low temperature, and blowing drifting snowing white hell. After the plows are out and gravel down. It's just the day or two this crap. :(

Could be worse...*points to the Northeastern states* 'Millions' without power. Eek!

I wouldn't mind either if I didn't have to go to work anyway. It's gonna be a long day tomorrow. I'll probably spend an hour getting to work, which is only a mile and a half away.

Sounds like you folks are going to get the blast from this storm, Dawn. From what the weather geeks have reported, Duluth (actually St. Cloud to Duluth and north of that line) is going to get over a foot.

We got some rain, some snow and some wind so far. Ice with a little snow.

I don't know what we got, but I doubt it was a foot. But with the blowing and drifting, it might as well have been. Getting around in the wee hours this morning was treacherous. The main streets were plowed, but the side streets were not and many still are not.

I probably won't be able to get to my parking space behind my house until tomorrow at the earliest. Alleys are not a priority. And with the budget cuts in the city, we have less plow drivers this winter.
