DirecTV Blows Enormous Chunks of Vomit

Post by Mr. X »

Last month I called DirecTV not once but twice to ask if I needed their SuperFan bullcrap to get the Sunday Ticket games in HD. Both times I was told that as long as I had HD access that I would get the games in HD. Last week I had the games in HD; this week I don't.

Now ... now ... I find out that last week was a BS promo for their SuperFan BS and that's the reason I had the games in HD last week. The problem I have today is that I cannot get my locals in HD so I'm stuck with SD, but SD on my HD plasma looks like crap. It's taking an HD transmission and converting it back to SD and it looks worse than a SD tv. Much worse.

I've had it with DirecTV. When you call their customer service dept there's a less than 50-50 chance of getting accurate information. Why don't they just say upfront that you have to have their SuperFan BS to get the games in HD?

Pissed off beyond all belief.

Luckily i bought Superfan yesterday. They had it all explained on Channel 702 which i luckily saw yesterday. I agree SD on a HDTV sucks beyond belief.

Order online! Its easy and it takes like 5 minutes for what you order to kick in. I never ever use ther phone service, as lie you said, it sucks.

haha yeah, direct tv is famous for that. just hand out showtime and hbo to keep their customers happy. it doesnt cost them a thing since they have all the channels streaming anyways. but yeah everytime i have to call for something seems like i always end up with free hbo and showtime....hey it works for me :beerchug:

Bingo. You were right on the money. They offered to give me a $5 credit for 6 months. I said that wasn't good enough and asked them to calculate my exit fee so I could switch over to Dish Network. They countered by offering to add SuperFan for free. I agreed. Doh! I wish I could negotiate with these guys everyday. LOL

Sounds like the deal of the year. One day I'm gonna get this set up and never miss a Vikings game. Must be nice to watch other cool games and not be stuck with Cable. Ilive in the south and I'm stuck with the Saints ( I HATE THEM), Falcons, Tampa Bay, sometimes Miami, sometimes Dallas. But it's the Saints, Falcons, Bucs every week. I hate those teams.

I'm in the same boat as you ... except I live in Kentucky so I see the Bungles more than any other team.

have you tried adding an antenna to get over the air free HD? You don't need any antenna that says it's a HD antenna, just a regular one and as long as your HD tv has a built in HD tuner, it should work. It never worked for me until I moved to closer to the city, but now works great for getting local channels in HD.

I have Sunday ticket through direct and not super fan without HD service but i have a
HD TV 1080I TV.

I have always been really happy with Direct TV but I think this my last year with the ticket
even with the renewal price break its way over two hundred now. I am finishing school online
and that's not cheap so i have to cut somewhere.

I hate the way Directv works in general with the sunday ticket. I don't want to get sattelite just for football, because my internet/digital cable/phone is all in one package. I wish you could order football games like pay per view or something. I think Directv rights to the games ends in like 2010 though, hopefully someone else out bids them for it.

Well, We lucked out and got a nice package for Direct TV free. 4 months free direct TV with all the movie channels, Free NFL Sunday ticket(normal not superfan HD), Free upgrade to HD DVR box, plus 2 regular boxes and free installation. It was a Circuit City promo, spend more than $400 on an HDTV or a PC and get all of those Direct TV goodies for free. We needed a new TV for the living room, so we picked up a $500 32 inch flat panel LCD(720p), not a top of the line, but certainly better than the 23 inch Walmart cheapo we had in place, and got the Direct TV hookup.

I hope when their contract is up with Direct TV the NFL works out a deal so people with digital cable can get Sunday ticket as well. That would be my preference. I hate having the TV go out everytime it rains here, I'd rather have digital cable than satellite.
