NFL Network Question
Since several of you have NFLN I figured you guys could answer this for me. I finally made the leap and got the Extended Cable along with NFLN. Don't they rerun most of the games each week in a shortened format? So if I can't see the game on Sunday, I can listen via the Internet and then catch a rebroadcast of the game later in the week?

I believe that is the case yes Mike.Kansas Viking wrote:Since several of you have NFLN I figured you guys could answer this for me. I finally made the leap and got the Extended Cable along with NFLN. Re: NFL Network Question
I think they only rerun a handful of games each week. I could be wrong though.
Re: NFL Network Question
I have it and almost never watch it. You're sure to get a lot of highlights, and they do replay games, or did. It isn't my favorite network, sort of a work in progress.

They select five games from the prior weekend.
Last year I had problems finding the schedule of which games they were airing. On too many occasions the guide would list "NFL Reply" without indicating which game they were re-airing. Maybe that was a DirecTV thing.
I did like that truncated format that they used. Very fast moving and cuts out all the junk.
As for the NFL Network ... I was very disappointed in the quality of their analysis shows during the week. They give way too much face time to guys like Deion Sanders who are more interested in doing a clown show than providing any useful information.

Hey, thanks for the info everyone. Sounds like I might get to see a Vikes replay once in a while, but not too often. Oh well, better than nothing unless they run them while I'm at work.

Re: NFL Network Question
the replay four or five games on Tuesdays and then later in the week again.
Basically you can count on three to four games from the Vikings.
Last year they replayed Chargers, Bears road game and Denver I believe

no one expects the Spanish Inquisition!

Yeah, they only replay exciting games. So unless AD breaks 200 don't expect much.jackal wrote:the replay four or five games on Tuesdays and then later in the week again.

Yep, and if he doesn't it's a loss... who wants to watch a replay of a losing game.Demi wrote: Yeah, they only replay exciting games. So unless AD breaks 200 don't expect much.

I hope the NFL Network works for people outside MN. The replays on NFL are pretty good. I never considered the replays when I made my comments earlier, that's a big deal for folks elsewhere.
It would be great if they could improve the network when the replays aren't running.
Re: NFL Network Question
Agreed. I changed to dish in part to get NFL Network. And the channel was better at launch than now. All these talking heads they added are terrible. I could get the same crap from ESPN, only other reason is for the games and I'm sure I could find those somewhere online if I actually wanted to see it.John wrote: Yep, and if he doesn't it's a loss... who wants to watch a replay of a losing game.![]()

Re: NFL Network Question
Indeed, you can find them online as they're being played live (and in many cases I've found you can actually download the full games in pretty good quality from some places.)Demi wrote: Agreed. There are downsides to that though. The first is the live games online are generally of crap quality. It's just clear enough to tell what's going on in most cases I've seen. There's also the fact that you're in your computer chair instead of on the couch.
It'd be nice if the NFL would let you pay a small per game fee to see games in decent quality online. Maybe $5 a game or something ... maybe even let you download past games in a format that was easy to burn to DVD. I'm sure they'd make a good amount of money off of it and I think it'd make a lot of fans happy too.
In Kentucky if I don't look online for video or radio feed I have to rely on the "Live game" stuff on NFL.com or recaps, which is lame. Though there is a Vikings bar in my town somewhere, I'll have to look into it and might go there some this season.

You are right Cliff and it amazes me that they dont do stuff like that. Another one that I bet they could make a bundle off of is being able to download old games to watch and/or burn. I would love to watch that game where Walter Payton took the Purple People Eaters for 275...what an amazing RB!Cliff wrote: Indeed, you can find them online as they're being played live (and in many cases I've found you can actually download the full games in pretty good quality from some places.)

Re: NFL Network Question
Do it! You'll find you'll have fun watching the game with other Vikings fans. And maybe you'll make some new friends, too. My uncle lived near Washington DC, but was a HUGE Vikings fan. He and his wife (a Bears fan) would go to the local Vikings bar every week the team wasn't on a channel they could watch from home. The bar would have drawings for prizes and such, and they would have a great time!Cliff wrote:Though there is a Vikings bar in my town somewhere, I'll have to look into it and might go there some this season.
When I was there during football season, they took me to the bar to watch the game. It was great!
