In a bit of a pickle here.

Post by spencer ellerbusch »

Ok well i come back from camp and my music tour and such and i found out i was nominated to perform at the Rice County fair talent show. Well i had 2 songs picked out. One i coudnt do because of there was no version of the melody that didnt have the vocals in it (You dont you wont by Billy Gilman) and they wont let me do a Your song by Elton John because hes gay (yea retarted isnt in the host of the contest wont let me)

So i have to sign up tommoro with the song im going to sing. And be able to learn it and perform on sunday.

Any ideas?

Has to be well known by i guess younger and middle aged people (25-40 some)
And cant be sung by a person that has a really low voice (im a tenor)
And easy enough to learn :P

O under 4 minutes also

and 1 more thing
It has to have a karaoke version or instrumental version which means the melody and the music of the actual song but with none of the vocals in it.

OK READY GO!!!!!

my best advice is do music that you like

is there a style of music you are looking for country rock ??

country is the easiest music to perform and has a lot of songs for a
person with a lower voice IMO

send me a PM and I will come if with a list for you spencer

BGM might be a good person to ask as well.

You say it has to be well known? I don't know how well known the song isd, but I like "Beautiful in My Eyes" by Joshua Kadison. Edwin McCain has some good songs to sing. And they are pretty easy to learn.

I'll throw out some ideas for ya.

The Who - Behind Blue Eyes -
Radiohead - Creep (Radio edit version)
Coldplay - In my place ("Green Eyes" or "Trouble" would be a better song but it's not as popular and "Yellow" is 4:28)
Audioslave - like a stone

If I think of more I'll add em.

I don't know if any of these have versions without the vocals ... I'd bet at least "Creep" and "Behind Blue Eyes" do.

I know you're no longer in it, and this might not be your thing, but I'd seriously take issue with the fact that they wouldn't let you enter an Elton John song because he was gay. That's ridiculous.

I agree with Cliff. That is appalling that they would not let you sing Elton John. I can only guess what they think of Walt Whitman and Emily Dickinson? Wonder if they would let you perform Queen? Or Judas Priest? Or Clay Aiken? :)

Glad you got some good ideas. How did the tour go? Sorry I did not get there to hear you sing when you came to town.
