Todd,

That is terrible, terrible news. I am really sorry to hear of this. There is nothing that makes me more angry than this kind of unjust, evil act perpetrated against an innocent and decent human being. While I disagree with where you place the blame, I share your outrage. Please know that. I've said a prayer for your nephew and his whole family this morning, for whatever good it may do.

My heart goes out to you and your Brother in Law's family, Todd. A very tragic thing to happen at anytime, but more so on Father's Day.

You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.

Todd,

I am very very sorry for your loss and the loss for your family. A parents worst nightmare....I wish no parent ever had to feel what your brother in law is feeling. My thoughts are with them and I hope they can find peace somehow someway soon.

Wow, I'm very sorry for your loss.

It is sad how some people have no regard for life.

My sincere condolences. I pray you and your family find strength in your memories of him.

I don't really have many words for you, Minniman. I guess the first thing to say is that there are those out there who like to make fun of veganism, but the main reason I eat a vegan diet is to make a statement against needless killing of any kind. Surely, such a statement needs to be made on a daily basis, if not through our diet than through some other method. Peace isn't something that is simply bestowed on our species; we have to actively earn it.

Minniman, at least you have a memory of your nephew freely choosing to be a teacher at an inner-city high school. That fateful, beautiful and inspiring choice will be one of your family's last memories of him. While it is tragic for any man to leave this world before his time, at least he will go out a true hero -- indeed, he will go out as a war hero, one who was in the process of waging a war against poverty. Of all the wars we can fight, that's my personal favorite.

so sorry to hear that

Those kinds of things really never heal but do get easier with time. I wish the family
all the best and hope they have some great support at a time like this.
