Ebay and Pay Pal !!!!

Post by jackal »

I bought a computer on March 1st
from a buyer on Ebay for about 600
bucks. I thought cool I got a nice system
with 4 gigs of Ram that should do everything
I need for a while. Well it only goes downhill from there
folks.

The computer should up no operating system.
I called the place ALLPCZONE and the guy starting yelling
at me on the phone saying I couldn't get PayPal to refund
it. I finally hung up on him and he called me back and left
a voicemail telling me not to hang up on him Yelling again.
I sent it back same day UPS (68 bucks down the drain)
they refused it because of no RMA(their supposed reason)
Weeks and weeks go buy writing emails and such. Pay Pal
credit card that is supposed to be 100 percent buyer satisfaction
quaranteed(should be 100 percent un-satsisfied). The computer blue screened and would even load a operating system either.

This guy who is a supposed Vice President of All PC zone
basically sends me this in his last Email.
I have to admit that you are a very stuborn man. A real viking. I hope that you understand that even if you win the case you will be required to ship the system back to us. (The system will be opened infront of a delievery guy and photos taken immediately), if you think that you can send back something that is not complete in order to compinsate yourself, you can forget about it, it will be inspected and video taped from the moment of delievery with the UPS driver present, you will still be required to pay to ship it back My question is why go through all the trouble, because of the feedback, you are aware that the feedback was unjust. You had been extrmely rude to me throughout the process, I don't appreciate it, people learn by their own mistakes, but then again some people don't.

Did the add on ebay said it had an OS on it? Just because there's no operating system doesn't mean it's not a working computer.

You could probably get a copy of windows XP really cheap if you wanted. I'd just keep it and install an OS if that's the only problem.

Wow what a ####. I have had a few bad experiences on eBay, but nothing like that. Good luck with it all.

I buy and sell alot of tickets on Ebay as well as buying a few other things. the bottom line on ebay is you have to be very careful and really watch their feedback and even then its kinda like buying something in the classifieds. I am not sure its a condemnation of Ebay and Paypal so much because you COULD have this same problem with most business. I think we have all bought stuff at one time or another and felt like we got screwed in one way or another.

Have you tried contacting your credit card company to dispute the charge? Thats where I would go next if the company that sold it too you wont be more helpful.

Sorry you had this problem Jackal. What is the guys ebay username so that we can all beware!?

i dont know if i would ever buy a computer from ebay.. but yeah, unless they specified an OS in the listing, they've probably got you on that one.. also it probably means they've never tested the computer to make sure it works..

also i'm pretty sure paypal doesn't guarantee 100% buyer satisfaction.. i've gotten a lot of crap thats worse than i expected from ebay before and just had to live with it.. i think all they guarantee is that you get what was advertised..

The #1 rule to use with ebay is that;

If something sounds too good to be true it probably is.

If you bought a computer that was $600 that you might have to pay $2000 elsewhere (I only know how much ram it has so I don't know if that's the case with you). There's a chance something else will be wrong with it.

The bottom line is that if you bought a computer well under it's real value and all you need is windows you still got a good deal if that's *all* that's wrong with it.

Take a copy of the email. Find out if your state has both party consent to tape a phone call. Call him, point out the flaws in his auction and let the rest play out. If your state allows 1 party consent you can win the suit if he trys to back out or just comes off as a dick. Considering how hes personally attacking you in his email(stating your rude, and implying your stupid for not learning) no one will feel sorry for him.He is the head of a company, he should be focused on fixing the issue not fighting with you. Rate him down on ebay, and inform any sites that advertise for him of his actions.

All it takes is him screwing up once to mess up his business for a while. I hope he sees that just giving in and making you happy solves a ton of problems down the road.

if you want, post the item ID and I'd be happy (as would some others) to check out the initial ad and make sure it did say there would be an OS.

We sell a lot on Ebay. Up to 889 items now with a 100% positive feedback. One of the reasons for that is if for any reason a customer is not satisfied, we refund the cost of the item and his shipping fees.

I can not believe that someone would not take the computer back and refund your money. Feedback is everything on Ebay.

That being said, there are things I would not buy on Ebay. A computer is one of them, along with high end camera equipement.

Good luck Jackal. Hope this works out well for you.

Yeah, I got burned on an ebay video camera a few years back. Came just as it looked and was described. Only it didn't work. I checked back over the ad, and nowhere did it say it was fully-functional or partially-functional or anything. Mostly just said it was Used. Which it clearly was. I swore off ebay for awhile after that. I've slowly made my way back on board, but I still prefer Amazon now, unless I can't find something or if there's a really good deal.

Good luck to you, though. That's ridiculous what happened.

Sorry Jackal. I looked up the auction. The guy has a stellar rating and it clearly says the computer ships with no operating system.
This System does not include an Operating System, and most computers on eBay don't. That's why we are offering a great deal on Windows OS.
Then another section says
System comes ready to load the following Operating Systems:

Microsoft: (2000, XP, Vista, 32 & 64 Bit Versions)

Linux: Supported

Pay Pal is giving me a full refund this week

The guy had 7 negatives that people wouldn't remove
and at least 4 or five that (mutually)removed just so they could get
money back.

The computer had used parts(the bios was dated back to
october 19 2007) This is the reason I was able to get the refund
BTW.

The computer never would even load an operating system.
I had a friend who is a tech spend two hours trying to fix it
for me at my house. (he is the one that found the remnant
of an old operating system and timestamp in the BIOS

It blue screened and we tried switching the Hard Drive, Ram
Memory etc etc....

This guy even told Ebay I didn't pay in the first place
and I didn't have a working computer and was getting Online
at my parents. Ebay issued me a non payment strike because
I didn't respond to his complaint in time. Since i closed the account
I didn't care anyways.

The guy user name is ALLPCZONE

Two months to get a refund even after i proved I returned
it. Ebay will never make another dime from me or Pay Pal
for that matter!

(Basically my friend the tech who helped me work on it.)
Built me two computers for the price of parts

an Athon 3000+
and Intel Dual Core with a five hundred gig hard drive

My fiend didn't even charge me any labor he used some stuff
I had and bought some new parts. So I got two computers
for half of the price of the one that didn't work. :D

The first thing I did was cancel Pay Pal credit card
and tell them to send me my eight dollars intrest
