Brock Lesnar to fight in Minnesota?
Last night during the UFC 82 PPV Mark Coleman was inducted into the UFC Hall Of Fame. During the UFC 82 PPV Coleman was interviewed and he said he is fighting Brock Lesnar in August of this year. The rumor is that Brock Lesnar-Mark Coleman fight will headline a UFC PPV and at the Target Center.

Brock Lesnar reminds me of this new MMA golden-boy, Kimbo Slice. These guys are used as big-ticket draws and are quickly becoming huge fan favorites, yet they haven't had a fight against a true contender. So far they're just throwing scrubs and has-beens against these guys. Anyone see Kimbo Slice VS. Tank Abbot? That was barely a fight.
Saying that, I do like Kimbo Slice. He's got beastly strength and he's still very quick for his size. If you watch interviews with him you also find out that he's actually a very intelligent and well-spoken guy.

Yup, that is the same Kimbo Slice. He beat up an out of shape (even for him) Tank Abbott, but he would get destroyed by almost any top heavy weight. That said, I'd love to see him matched up with Bob Sapp!
I was a fan of Tank Abbott years ago. I loved watching him because his fights were always wide open slug fests. But he really should retire. he is too slow and too old. He is going to get hurt out there.
Brock Lesnar has good wrestling skills and lots of power, so I'd expect him to do better than Kimbo. In a fight between the two, I'd expect Lesnar to KO Kimbo. As for Marco Coleman, he is a bit of a punching bag these days, so Lesnar might be able to beat him....

Just the UFCs way of building Lesnar's name. It isn't a coincidence it was announced at the same time Coleman was put in the UFC hall of fame.
Kimbo and Lesnar are in the same boat, they're being built up like boxers are. Slowly. Probably better off for every party involved. If they fought I'd take Lesnar to take him down and pummel him like his last two fights. But if Kimbo could keep it standing there is no way Lesnar would do more than go to sleep.

You cannot compare Lesnar to Kimbo Slice. Lesnar is a former NCAA Heavyweight wrestling champion. Kimbo's name was made on Youtube by showing streetfights he participated in. Scrubs and hasbeens? Please. Lesnar has had 2 MMA fights. His last one was against former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir. I say that would count as a true contender. Kimbo's strength is no were near that of Lesnar's. Lesnar would kill Kimbo in the weight room and in a MMA match.HornedMessiah wrote:Brock Lesnar reminds me of this new MMA golden-boy, Kimbo Slice. Slowly? Like i said in my previous post, Lesnar just fought former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir. I would agree Kimbo has better standup but Lesanr imo would kill the guy. I also love MMA!Demi wrote:Just the UFCs way of building Lesnar's name. It isn't a coincidence it was announced at the same time Coleman was put in the UFC hall of fame.

Lesnar was given that matchup to lose. The UFC knew it. They put him against the single worst guy in the division, other then Big Nog, to fight. And it ended just as they expected.
Kimbo still has better standup than Lesnar will ever have. I still think Lesnar wins it though, if I had to put money on it.

Frank Mir is the single worse guy in the Division? Or do you mean matchup wise? From what i read Lesnar and his camp requested the Mir fight. The fact is Kimbo can get fed tuna cans all day long. Lesnar cant as he is in the UFC and to be honest there are no easy fights in the UFC. I would put my money on Lesnar. He would throw Slice down and Slice wouldn't know what hit him. Who knows though. Might never happen unless they get in the same company.Demi wrote:Lesnar was given that matchup to lose. The UFC knew it. Worst matchup. Lesnar has no standup. And only has gnp. Mir is great off his back. It was obvious how it was going down.
EliteXC can bring Kimbo along slowly because they have to. The UFC can afford to bury Lesnar if they wanted, just having him there win or lose sells ppvs. It can also created fighters with the ultimate fighter and the commercial time.

Actually with the CBS deal EliteXC might have to step up Kimbo's competition.Demi wrote:Worst matchup. Lesnar has no standup. And only has gnp. Mir is great off his back. It was obvious how it was going down.

It sure would be an interesting match to watch, but Bob Sapp is even more of a sloppy brawler than Kimbo. Plus he's slow; if Kimbo landed one of his nasty uppercuts to Sapp's chin it would be all over.Canadian Viking wrote:Yup, that is the same Kimbo Slice. Anyone see that clip of Mirco Cro Cop taking down Sapp with that one punch? That was awesome.
