OMG this mom should go to jail. What an idiot. I feel bad for the kid. That is not fair for her to suffer for her mom's stupidity.

I agree the mom should be sent to jail and lose her Kid.

I remember when they started busting people for committing
fraud on the Katrina victims. Some people just suck !

the ticket scalpers and ticket "services" are the ones who need to go to jail.

They're the ones jacking the prices up to 2-3 grand a ticket. And when "Over Priveleged Suzie" gets to go but all the other kids who want to see the show are stuck at home.

They need to chop this crap down from the top.

Uh, no, demand is what jacks the prices up to 2-3 grand a ticket. It's called capitalism. If they don't want the tickets to go that high, ADD MORE SHOWS.

do you really think little miss suzie who is 8 years old and wants to see Hannah Montana in concert knows what capitalism means?

These parents are morons for hawking this ridiculous kind of cash, and the scalpers are to blame for hawking the tickets. The original ticket price is the same as a normal concert. People need to remember why scalping was illegal in the first place.

I agree, scalping should be illegal. Charging that percentage of inflation should be illegal period.

As many of you know I am not exactly an unbiased source in this issue but it absolutely astounds me that some people seem to think they should have a constitutional right to buy tickets for an event at face value...

Next time I buy a house I want to buy it at the same value that the person selling it paid for it. Its not fair that these house scalpers jack prices up so that people cannot afford houses!

Honestly, name one thing that you cannot buy and then resell for a higher price than what you paid for it in this country? Name it? Why should tickets be any different? I would like to buy everything at "face value" when I shop at the grocery store or Wal-Mart from now on. Its called Capitalism and its how our country works.

FYI almost all states have not repealed the "scalping" laws as they are rediculous....including Minnesota as of August this last year.

What difference does it make if little suzie knows what capitalism means or not. She isnt entitled to a ticket to see Hannah Montana. If the prices are too high then her parents explain that to her, if shes upset, too bad thats life. My 12 year old was upset that he couldnt have a cell phone this Christmas and he was also upset he couldnt have an Ipod 30GB Video Player...its too expensive. Now if nobody wanted an Ipod 30GB Video Player, then the price would drop and I could afford to buy him one but thats not the case....

Exactly.

Its supply and demand. Not many people would have wanted to take the bath that most brokers did on the Vikings this season. I dont know of many games that made a profit, they were mostly losers. Its supply and demand.

You had it correct for a second there. The parents who are willing to go nuts are to blame. The scalpers just provide a marketplace.

I'm not a Hannah Montana fan, but a huge music fan, and have seen hundreds of shows all over the country, so maybe I'm a bit sensitive to it, but the fact is that events like these can me monumental in one's life. I think everyone should have a fair access to them. The people running the tour set their price, the first fan there wins! Scalpers, who may pay for "ins" or know the system better, shouldn't be able to snatch up a ton of tickets and immediately inflate their value by 1000%. I'm sorry, that's capitalism that needs to be put in check, sort of like the Industrial Revolution.

Sorry its a free market. If you want tickets to something get up at 10am like the rest of us, log in to ticketmaster and get your tickets...its that simple. Most ticket sellers dont have any secret "in" that you cant also have. Its simple persistance is all. It goes against all common sense as well as what our economic system is founded on to "limit" prices. Oh, and everyone has "fair access" to tickets, you have the same chance that i do to get tickets to any event.

As far as having "ins", well any industry or business has that. I know people that work for Wal-Mart that were selling Wii's on ebay for inflated prices, how do you think they got them? There are millions of other examples just like this. As far as knowing the system better, WELL YA! How do you think millions of people get better deals than everyone else on a variety of things. People who work in real estate often are in the know on good property to buy just as people who work in the stock market are in the know...its how its done. I know a guy who is really good with welding and makes custom weather vanes...he makes a killing on them. Should I be jealous that he has knowledge that I dont and so he gets to make a bunch of cash and I dont. This whole line of reasoning just doesnt jive.

Oh and you dont "check" capitalism...that would go against the principals of capitalism.

Heh, I know a couple that does the same thing. Wife stocks for Target, lets husband know when they get Wii's in so he knows to show up at opening.

The US is not by any means a pure capitalist economy, it's much more Keynesian. We have numerous checks. The Industrial Revolution did bring on many checks, like workplace safety and anti-monopoly laws. However, none of this kind of stuff applies to ticket scalping.
