Re: Film observations of Vikings: Week 1 vs. Rams
I understand Cassell didn't do a well as you would like. Long sustained drives is what we all want. However long sustained drives against a defense like the Rams is the exception not the rule for most teams. Peterson was shut down and our receivers were covered pretty well. I think Cassell did very ...

Re: Status of Floyd and Robinson
Well, that may be true, but I for one have no problem with it.
A couple of years ago, Sports Illustrated had an article about the lingering effect of injuries on NFL players. They showed a team photo of the 1981 Cincinnati Bengals Super Bowl team. They had a legend with the photo that outlined ...

Re: Status of Floyd and Robinson
Man whatever happened to the tough men of the 70s? I don't remember Page, Eller, Larson or Marshall getting hurt so much as the players today.
Despite all the supposed advances I feel the old guys were tougher. I have a theory that all the current no contact practices have softened players bodies ...

Re: Do We Have A Good Chance Against Patriots At Home?
We will face a real offense next week that will test this defense. It's not the pats of old but they are still better than most. So I think next week is real test of this new defense. I just hope we haven't lost Floyd. Our offense is good and can beat the pats defense so I definitely think we have a ...

Re: Vikings @ Rams Game Day Discussion Thread -- Week 1
Not much to complain about in this game. Too many penalties in the first half. Some poor line play. The penalties can be fixed and the poor line play could partially be due to The fact that the rams have one of the best fronts in the league.
Our defense really looks solid. Is it because the rams ...

Re: How confident are you in the Vikings for 2014?
I get excited every year for the season to start. But since the 70s I've been apprehensive about my team and never quite sure how they'll do. It just seemed like every year they had some glaring weakness that wasn't addressed in the off season. I just never expected them to make a real super bowl ...

Re: Preseason Wk#4 Vikings at Titans Game Thread
I'm convinced talent and health were easily the biggest factors in those two awful seasons on defense and I think the year in between them underlines that. Zimmer obviously has the qualifications necessary to improve the defense so let's hope they stay healthy and their depth doesn't get tested ...

Re: Vikings uniforms.. What could have been.
My favorite was the old unis of the 70s. I actually like the new ones better than anything since the 70s. I think the new ones could have been my favorite if it wasn't for the goofy numbers.

Re: Summary of Chiefs game?
I didn't see the game either, but have read the critiques. Defense was a weakness for us last year and this year it probably still will be. However, it is improving and that is what I want to see. It may take Zimmer a couple of years to get this group into working order which will most likely ...

Re: Who would you start in Week 1?
My first thought on this is that Cassell played with and against #1s and Teddy played with and against #2 and #3. We all know that #2 and 3 defensive players are for the most part significantly less talented than the ones. In my mind that makes it harder to evaluate. I really wish Zimmer would have ...

Re: Teddy Bridgewater
I think you're confusing "personal" attacks, from having a problem with a guy because of "personal" issues. You're mixing up words. I don't use those types of words because its not my style, but if someone wants to hurl "personal" insults at a player because of how they play, I have no problem ...

Re: Cassell's confidence
I really look for Cassel to have a good year this year. Yes, he had decent talent around him last year and was better than Ponder but still inconsistant. But at this point I don't put that all on Cassel. He had Musgrave calling very predictable plays, he had Peterson injured as well as Rudolf. There ...

Re: 2014 Vikings Training Camp notes/interviews
Yeah, Zimmer's defense is going to be much more aggressive and playing the pass to A. Break it up or B. pick it off, it's MUCH MUCH different than Frazier's approach of sitting back in zones and tackling well after they catch it. Let's face it, even Ponder looked incredible in practice against ...

Re: Teddy Bridgewater
I'm well aware that the vicious comments made about Ponder are a response to how people feel about him as a football player, not how they feel about him after getting to know him personally. If I'm not mistaken, nobody here knows him at all. My point was that the degree of animosity directed ...
