I think Booth has the chance to be a #1 corner, and frankly, I think at this point that's about all we can hope for. Getting someone who has the potential to be a #1 CB. As the two most likely to do it from this draft came off in the top 5 picks. Booth could develop into a good one. He can cover.

Would have been ok with him at #34, think here the value is pretty good.

With the NFL becoming such a pass happy league, and so much emphasis on getting good receivers, I think picking up some secondary help is a good strategy.

(btw, what's it going to take to sign Jefferson to a longer deal? Wow, whatever it is. That's a rhetorial question)

My draft magazine has Cine and the best run support safety and Booth as the best run support CB. Sounds like they can tackle at least.

Can somebody break down the last two trades? What all did the Vikings give up/get?

This is where Kwesi can separate himself from Rick. Rick was just throwing darts at a board it seems at times with his 10+ picks in a draft. Kwesi seems to be operating under the theory that there isn’t a lot separating guys in the 20-70 range, which makes sense. Our two best defenders were drafted 45 and 88.

I thought they would grab Booth at 34. They get him later and another 2nd. Plus moved up in the 3rd to practically a 2nd round pick. He still needs to execute obviously but the strategy is making a little more sense now.

Apply pressure with the front 7 and have DBs playing mostly downhill to blow up quick routes.

Booth seems like a good pick at this point. I like that there seems to be a theme developing. I feel the Vikings have been rather soft for a long time. I can't remember the last time they really had a swaggering physical secondary.

Good point. I like a secondary full of bullies.

Seems that way. So, move down 8 spots, move up 18 spots and move up 70 spots. Not a clue if that results in the players we have targeted.

I did admit I don't know much about him, but, KAM has not earned my trust yet.

What I do know about Booth suggests he is not anything special and will not have a notable impact on the Vikings. Yes, there were pre-draft analysts who loved him, but he didn't go in the 1st round and I think there is a good reason for that.

To me, this looked like a desperation move on the part of KAM. Booth was the last of the "top-tier" CBs on the board and the Vikings just watched as two of their divisional rivals snatched up two of the better WR prospects in this draft. They panicked a bit as the CB pool after Booth gets very shallow very quick.

As I always do when the Vikings make a pick like this, I hope I am wrong.
