I truly do wonder if Kwesi regrets his trade down in 2022 and missing out on Kyle Hamilton.
Oh well, live and learn, right?

I wonder if he regrets the competitive rebuild theory. Haven't heard it in some time. Hamilton was rated as a top 10 to 5 guy. Many teams skipped probably because of bigger holes but KAM needed a safety and picked the 3rd or 4th guy selected. Hopefully he don't regret giving the 2025 picks away for Turner. That will be answered in a few weeks. I expect a few splash plays at a minimum. With our fine tuned O ready to roll and score there will be some sack opportunities against a nothing OL.VikingLord wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 11:45 am I truly do wonder if Kwesi regrets his trade down in 2022 and missing out on Kyle Hamilton.

Turner was a consensus top 10 pick (much like Hamilton) coming out this year, so the fact he slid out of the top 10, much less to 17 where the Vikings got him, either means a lot of teams missed badly on him or the rumors about a health issue scared everyone but KAM and the Vikings away. I just didn't see evidence of a problem when watching his final year of college highlights and I haven't seen or heard of any issues with him since he joined the Vikings, but that doesn't mean there isn't something there to be worried about.CharVike wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 12:28 pmI wonder if he regrets the competitive rebuild theory. That Cine/Booth move stuck in my craw back in 2022 and it sticks even worse now that both Cine and Booth are gone. The move to get Turner has got to pay off for KAM.

Turners career will be defined in a few weeks? Come on man.CharVike wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 12:28 pmI wonder if he regrets the competitive rebuild theory. Haven't heard it in some time. I never posted anything about career defined. We face the Giants who are in shambles. They gave up 85 sacks last year. That tells me they can't block very well. I fully expect him to do something.makila wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 8:01 pmTurners career will be defined in a few weeks? Come on man.CharVike wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 12:28 pm

And if he doesn't do something the trade was bad? In his first game? Are the giants the same team as last year?
"Hopefully he don't regret giving the 2025 picks away for Turner. That will be answered in a few weeks."
Fair, you didn't say his career would be defined. You said that the capital given up would be answered in a few weeks. Implying that the trade compensation would be answered as good or bad after the first few games of his career.
Come on man.

Instead of signing with the New York Jets' practice squad as initially reported, Cine is expected to ink a deal with the Buffalo Bills' practice squad, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported Thursday, per sources informed of the situation.

Vikings Sign Quarterback Brett Rypien, Waive Jaren Hall
The Vikings are keeping three quarterbacks on their 53-man roster, but the team is making a switch at its third quarterback position.
Minnesota on Thursday announced the signing of veteran quarterback Brett Rypien, along with waiving second-year pro Jaren Hall.
Rypien joins the Vikings for his sixth NFL season after spending the 2024 offseason with the Bears. He previously was with the Broncos (2019-22), Rams (2023), Seahawks (2023) and Jets (2023).
QB Brett Rypien
The former Boise State QB entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Denver, going from college Broncos to the pro version. He has played in 10 NFL games with four starts.
Rypien made his first career start in Week 4 of the 2020 season and completed 19 of 31 passes for a career-high 242 passing yards and two touchdowns, including a 48-yard touchdown pass, leading the Broncos to a 37-28 victory over the Jets.
During the 2023 season, Rypien appeared in two games (one start) with the Los Angeles Rams. A stint on Seattle's practice squad followed before Rypien closed the season on the New York Jets active roster.
A native of Spokane, Washington, Rypien started 49 of the 50 games he played as a quarterback at Boise State, finishing his career as the Mountain West's all-time leader in passing yards (13,581), completions (1,036) and 300-yard passing games (21).
Hall joined the Vikings as a fifth-round pick in 2023. He made two starts for Minnesota as a rookie, opening at Atlanta but leaving the game early after suffering a concussion. Hall also started against Green Bay in Week 17.

I'm kind of surprised on this one. I know Hall didn't save the season last year, but before he suffered the concussion early against the Falcons he looked like he was in control of that game. And then again in his appearances this preseason he looked like he had put in the work and made some nice reads and throws.Cliff wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 9:25 am Vikings Sign Quarterback Brett Rypien, Waive Jaren Hall

Still, KOC is a former pro QB so if he was willing to walk away from Hall he must have a good reason.

I look at Turner much like I looked at Micah Parsons the year he came out. Parsons is a truly elite athlete but Turner isn't far away in terms of potential, and with the right system and coaching I don't see why Turner can't make an impact similar to the one Parsons was able to make on the Dallas defense.
Also, I don't think Turner's ability to make plays depends on the quality of the offense he faces any more than Parsons or any other elite defender. Elite defenders get theirs regardless of the guy across from them, and I fully expect to see the same from Turner continue to show up just as it did in his preseason performances.

Some on the board was suggesting Parsons at draft time. The quality of opponent does mean something, We shut out the Raiders and then let the Lions and Packers walk all over us the final 3 games. But elite players will make things happen I won't argue that. My expectations for Turner are high as they should be. There is no reason why he shouldn't make a contribution right off the bat. That starts in NJ against a team that does't have a very good front.VikingLord wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 12:43 pmI look at Turner much like I looked at Micah Parsons the year he came out.
