Bradbury added some weight and strength

This is an article about our IOL trying to be more powerful and physical. Bradbury said he's 5-10 ILBs heavier than his 300 listed weight which he never played at. Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell issued a widespread challenge to play with more power and physicality after last season, when the Vikings pillow-fought their way to one of the worst run-game efforts in franchise history.
IMO all this will be answered week 1 against Lawerence who owned us the last couple of times. It's time to own him.

The one aspect of the Vikings OL that needs the most work isn't their individual size or power but their consistency as a unit. It seemed like one of them would consistently screw up his assignment on any given play, and this tendency would occur all across the line from the supposedly weaker players to the strongest players. 4 of the 5 blockers would do a good job while one just got wrecked. On the very next play it would be a different guy. And then there was the general lack of discipline among the group too. Way too many penalties on key downs that in many cases were completely unnecessary. It was just a unit that honestly needed a firm hand and, if necessary, some guys to get sat down at times.

Hopefully KOC can get those issues fixed, but at least it sounds like Bradbury put in his personal work this offseason to get better, so I salute him for that. If the other 4 guys on the OL did the same, maybe the worm will finally turn for that unit this coming season.

My main issue is with our coaching. Why did it take this long to tell Bradbury to get bigger and stronger. That should have been day 1. Now BB is our new LG. The guy is 6'7" but only 315. Another OT moved to OG. How will he handle these bigger IDL?. I see a guy getting pushed backward into the backfield. You need to hold the point. Maybe that's why they resigned Risner. Just in case.

Bradbury and the coaches were always about him getting bigger and stronger. The coaches didn't drop the ball on that. However, it is easier said than done.

Coaches was probably the wrong word. Athletic trainers are on staff and I'm sure support people for the diet.

Still easier said than done.
