I said it's not reality. Reality is that Darnold only got one Drive while McCarthy got many. McCarthy produced in his opportunities and Darnold didn't. Reality. It's like saying take away the 99 yard TD that player X scored and his game sucked, but you don't take that away and his game was good. Yes McCarthy got more opportunities than Darnold and Darnold may have done well in those extra opportunities. We will never know. We do know that McCarthy did well in his extra opportunities.Cliff wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 9:26 amI meant if JJ was only given his first drive like Darnold was. The only apples to apples comparison are their first drives. After that, JJ gets extra reps and opportunities Darnold didn't have and has them against weaker players. Would Darnold have looked even better than his first drive? Would he have throw two INTs? Who knows.VikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2024 12:28 pm
That's not reality. You're trying to grade McCarthy's worst drive against Darnold's one failed drive. JJ led 3 TD drives and Darnold failed to convert from first and goal. McCarthy had the far superior game.
When does McCarthy start?

Reality? The harsh reality is that McCarthy is on ice until 2025 & Darnold is our starting QB for 2024. Comparing them on such a small sample size in the first pre-season game seems pretty pointless now. Reality pretty much sucks when you're a Vikings' fan.VikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 7:40 pmI said it's not reality. Reality is that Darnold only got one Drive while McCarthy got many. I made that comparison when there was still a competition for QB1 on the Vikings this year. However, as you say, the reality of McCarthy being set back a whole year does indeed suck giant donkey dong.Tommy TarkenKapp wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 9:51 pmReality? I've come to the sobering realization that the only time I'll see the Vikings win a championship is when I'm playing Tecmo Super Bowl.VikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 10:23 amI made that comparison when there was still a competition for QB1 on the Vikings this year.
