Zadarius Smith in for a visit

In a bit of a surprise, it's being report that Za'darius Smith is visiting with the Vikings today:

If they plan to keep Hunter and sign Smith, that would be a very nice upgrade. I'm a little worried this might mean they have an idea that they are trading Hunter. I would rather keep Hunter if that is the case.

We can have both no problem.

We could, but I wouldn't say "no problem."
We have less than $2 million in cap space. Converting Danielle's roster bonus to a signing bonus saves $13.5 million against the cap. Smith just walked away from 4 years, $35 million from the Ravens, with incentives up to $50 million. So you're looking at a $12.5 million AAV, although I'm sure the Vikings could structure it to be less than that for 2022.
It's do-able, but that puts us in jeopardy of being able to afford an interior O-lineman. We also still need about $6 million to $8 million for the rookie pool.
From a purely player standpoint, I'd LOVE to see this. We'd have a monster pass rush, assuming both stay healthy.

How would this happen, no problem? It would take a lot of work, and I have given up on the idea of the Vikings doing anything big in FA. Maybe we could get someone to fit well in the draft.

Looks like it is very likely that we are signing him.

If we line him and Hunter up at Edge, we're going to be getting some serious pressure. I like it. Time to draft some CBs.
(Edit to add, Tre Waynes just got cut by the Bengals... it might be odd, but do we want him back?)

Love it!

Waynes was a bad FA signing by the Bungles. Gladney in AZ. That's two of trader downs 1st round CB picks. I think Hughes is still out there somewhere. Speilman had a hard time picking CBs. And QBs and ect... At least with Gladney I think the CAP charge ends with the signing. I think.

That picture does not mean anything, he just thinks it is cool and I do not want Waynes back, let the Vikings develop their own cornerbacks

Thanks. Then some wonder why our D was/is pitiful. That's 3 1st round nothing CBs. This has nothing to do with contracts. It's also why I'm not a fan of FA signings. Lions have cap and just flushed whatever they gave Hughes down the toilet. Teams keep there good players and the bums are kicked to the FA curb once the rookie contract ends or they draft another. Kewsi needs to look hard at Speilman's last draft. I don't expect anything from that group. Weed them out quickly and don't waste time and energy hoping for a miracle. Use it checking teams that have some depth and get ready to pick up some late cuts to fill the roster out.

If I meant Cousin I would have said him.

I really disliked Zadarius when he played for the Packers. I can get it over it though. Pass rush is great on paper, we'll see how many games of Hunter + Smith we get.
