Now that we have a criminal case against a current Viking player Jordan Adisson I thought revisiting this thread would be beneficial in evaluating how the league and the Vikings should proceed. I fully believe in innocent until proven guilty, but if Jordan Adisson had his blood alcohol tested appropriately and it came back over the limit there can be little doubt of his guilt.
Jeff Gladney was accused of domestic violence and found guilty in the court of public opinion. The Vikings released him as it was the expedient thing to do. He was found not guilty of the charges yet many consider him guilty simply due to his being charged. That could be true. He may have been guilty of something, but when society and employers can simply ignore not guilty it sets a bad precedent. He was able to find employment after the not guilty verdict but never played again due to dying in an automobile accident. Here's a link to an article about his death and showing how highly many people thought of him.

I'm 100% in favor of Jordan Adisson receiving consequences for his actions by a jury of his peers in a court of law. Assuming Jordan is guilty I hope he pleads that way and a wise judge determines consequences that will help him rehabilitate and keep the public as safe as possible from him repeating such actions. As in the Gladney thread I'm not in favor of the NFL or the Vikings handing out the consequences.

Where there is smoke there is fire.
And for the record, he did sign another contract with another pro team and had every chance to get his career back on track. It just wasn't going to be with the Vikings, and I'm still completely OK with that result.
Honestly, I hadn't thought about this or this thread in a long time, but what, if anything, does the above tell you about Gladney's character? Or are we all going to continue to make more excuses for him? He killed himself and someone else while driving recklessly at 2:28 in the morning on a freeway in Dallas, and it sounds like he could have taken another 2 people with him.Arizona Cardinals cornerback Jeff Gladney was killed in an accident in Dallas early Monday morning, according to authorities.
The crash took place around 2:28 a.m. Monday, according to the Dallas County Sheriff's Department. A white vehicle was overturned when officers arrived. Dallas Fire-Rescue confirmed two people -- a male and a female -- were dead. On Tuesday, the medical examiner's office confirmed that the 25-year-old Gladney and 26-year-old Andrea Mercedes Palacios were killed in the crash.
According to the Dallas County Sheriff's Department, the crash involved two vehicles. According to preliminary information, the white vehicle was speeding and clipped the vehicle in front of it, losing control before hitting a beam on Woodall Rodgers Freeway in Dallas. The two people in the other vehicle were not injured.

Re: Jeff Gladney arrested
My thoughts aren't about Gladney the individual. I'm discussing the process and what the goals should be. I didn't recall the details of the accident. Yep he signed with the Cardinals and I believe that was good.VikingLord wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 11:34 pm https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/340 ... ent-age-25
