It's odd that we didn't keep him as a backup at least. Is our depth THAT good? I read that it saves us 900K, so that's unlikely the motive. Still trying to wrap my head around this move.

Well, at least this puts to rest the fear I had ... that the Vikings would start Elflein over Ezra Cleveland.

He likely asked to be released/is unfit to keep going/ was a move done to save us cap for next year

It is sad that Vikings wasted a 3rd round pick on him and even worse that Vikings traded up to get him, I wish Elfein the best!

To be fair to Samia, his run blocking is pretty dope. He is horribly raw as a pass protector.

I thought he showed promise as a rookie, but regressed like Kalil...not fretting about this.

Elf's release was somewhat of a surprise to me. I thought maybe he would end up being a depth piece.
Let's see where he ends up.

As a lifelong Buckeye I was so excited when we drafted him and was really pumped before his second season after a pretty promising rookie season. Like mentioned in earlier posts.. it was another Kalil scenario.

Jets pick up Elflein and so we actually ended up saving cap space with this move to move into next year.
