Can Dan Bailey be counted on in the playoffs?

We all know how in the past how Vikings kickers have really cost the Vikings and its fans some games. Remember the 1998 team led by Hall of Famers Randy Moss, Cris Carter and John Randle only to be let down by a missed field goal by Gary Anderson (who had not missed a FG all year) in the old Metro Dome. How about the more recent playoff game in 2015 outside in Minnesota at the Gophers stadium where I think it was 10 degrees, in the fourth quarter, and Blair Walsh misses a 27 yard field goal to win the game against the Seattle Seahawks?

Could it happen again?

Bailey has been pretty solid this year and his playoff experience with the Cowboys should help in a loud and hostile environment such as being with the Saints. What do you think?

Pretty solid?

He hit 27-of-29 field goals and had a 76% touchback rate.

For comparison, Justin Tucker, universally regarded as the best kicker in the NFL, hit 28-of-29 and had a 53% touchback rate.

There are plenty of reasons for Vikings fans to worry about with this game. Dan Bailey is at the very bottom of the list.

I agree, he's not a big concern but he has missed 4 extra points this year and sometimes, a missed extra point can be the difference in a game. We might as well worry about him too. :)

Justin Tucker missed two XPs. It was a weird season. NFL kickers missed 64 XPs this season.

And besides, if we lose the game on a missed XP, everyone will just blame Kirk Cousins.

Wow, 64 missed XPs?! I wonder if that exceeds the total number of missed field goals.

I'm actually very pleased with Bailey this season. Less impressed with Spielman wasting a 5th round pick on Vedvik. I get trying to bring in competition for Bailey but you dont need to trade a fricken 5th round pick away

Although Bailey has been pretty good this season, after the Gary Anderson miss, and the Blair Witch.. I mean Walsh miss , I will never ever trust the foot of a kicker again until I see the ball split the uprights , see the refs hands in the air and see 00.00 on the clock.
When Anderson lined up I just knew he would put us ahead enough the game was ours. Then he went to miss the 1st kick of the season. Killed a piece of me forever. Lol.
So NO.. I can't trust one.
But if he kicks a game winner, I will love him!

It just can't come down to a FG. The Vikings could have a kicker that was 30/30 on 50+ FG's during the season and still miss a 26yder to win the game.

No Viking kicker can be trusted in the playoffs.
