Wildcard at Saints pre game

I think they go in playing with house money and match up well with the Saints. If they can get Cook and Mattison going they will win imo. Rhodes can cover Thomas. Both are big, physical, and slow. Much rather play at the Saints than at Seattle. The wild card is just one more chance to earn glory in battle. Bye weeks are for sissies. Let's go!!! :smilevike:

By the way Saints typically throw short passes. Zim needs to have those corners up at the line disrupting timing and tell the dline it's hard to sack him bc he gets it out in 2 steps so they need to get their hands up.

I’ve been saying the past few days I think we match up better with the saints as well. We tend to struggle with mobile QBs. We’ve given Brees fits before. I’m not sold on their defense either. Plus it’s a good thing being in a dome IMO.

We gotta go back to our bread and butter offense tho. I would think cook and mattison are back and we need to utilize them big time. Hopefully Thielen is back up to par. Everyone should be healthy. We can’t sit cousins back in this pocket. Utilize the rollouts and screen game. I like our chances

Time for another miracle against the Saints. Hopefully the Saints think this will be easy and ends up biting them in the ####. 24-17 Vikings!

I have to agree, of all the potential teams, I think the Vikings matchup best against the Saints.

And on a side note, we always seem to play better when we’re considered the underdogs and everyone is doubting us which I’m guessing will happen

We are a team that struggles against good pass rushes, and the Saints are 4th in sacks on the year.

The Vikings need to run the ball to be successful on offense, and Saints are 5th against the run this year.

On the other side of the ball, they are just a really good all around offense. The one thing we got going is MT is their only good receiver. Their offensive line isn't as good as it was last year, and they put their team in bad spots with a lot of holds. 1st and 20's are common. Pretty much the only time that offense has been stopped it has been self inflicted penalties, drops or drops that leads to interceptions.

Brees' arm is complete garbage and he cannot throw deep. Every team that plays them knows this though, and he still is gauging teams for big gains. They scored 46 on the best defense in the NFC, we aren't that.

If the Vikings win, it is because the OC called a great game and Zimmer out coached Peyton on defense. They are a better team than we are. Much better.

Cam Jordan had 14.5 sacks while the second leading sack guy was Davenport with 6. Basically if you block Cam you should be alright. They will need to run it though and the saints run d is pretty solid.

The Saints had two strong chances at a first round bye today. The first was Detroit up big on the Packers. The second was Seattle an inch away from beating the 49ers. They are pissed they have to play us and are already scouting Green Bay weather predictions for two weeks from now. I hope we can use this to our advantage.

Yesterday , and into last night I kinda thought that I felt more comfortable facing Seattle. But after that game last night, and after finishing my last brew for the night, I thought more about it and thought maybe we would be better against the Saints.
Hopefully both Cook and Mattison can be totally healed up and ready to go, and we can get the running/screen game going and try and control the ball and keep Brees and Thomas off the field as much as possible.
I agree Rhodes is big, I trust his tackling lately, but I am not gonna sit here and lie and say that I believe he can cover Thomas.
Thomas scares the living crap out of me. The dude is a stud. It's like the guy could be covered by 4 people and still find a way to come down with the ball.
Cam Jordan? Can we block him? Can we keep him away from Kirk? I hope so. Hope Stefanski can come up with a game plan to use his aggressive rush against them.
I'm gonna stay optimistic and say Hey Why Not Us?
And other than of course winning the SB, what 2 things can be sweeter than knocking that Fat Headed Crybaby Sean Peyton out of the playoffs or Whiny girl Erin and the Pukers? Cant stand either of them and would love sending them packing.
I'm trying to be more optimistic and not be so bitter for the New Years of 2020.
BUT IT AIN'T 2020 yet so for today and tomorrow.. well .. F$%k Erin and Fat face Peyton.
Sorry Cliff and Mods. But please dont remove that. You know we all stand United and scream SKOL at that last line there. I promise I wont do it again. I think

Not sure even if we have a good game we will beat the Saints.
We just haven't showed any consistency in big games. :govikes:

We'll know pretty quickly if we've got throwing Kirk or aiming Kirk, and if we get aiming Kirk, you can turn that game off straight away.

It will be ugly if the Vikings offense keeps putting in performances like they did against the Packers and in the first Bears game. They have to be a lot better than they've shown so far against better defenses, both running and passing.

Defensively, I just have no confidence in the Vikings at this point. Can they play well enough to win? Sure. Will they? Who knows? Just as in the losses to the Bears and Packers, they usually consistently fail to do something they need to do to win the game, like stop the run on 1st and 2nd downs and get off the field on 3rd down.

But (and there is always a "but" with the Vikings)...

They are more than talented enough to beat the Saints. If every phase shows up and plays to its potential, they could easily do it.

If the Vikings I've come to expect in 2019 show up, though, I think they'll lose, although not as badly as you are predicting. I think it will be closer to 28-17 or something like that, with the Saints topping that score off after a late Vikings drive fails to convert on 4th down deep in their own territory.
