According to Ian Rapoport, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is a fan of Zimmers work and could possibly explore a possible trade if he becomes available in the off season .First off I doubt it would happen,as he has not gotten rid of Garrett yet, but not very often do you have a trade for a coach.

There’s certainly a connection so it makes sense if Jerry feels like Zimmer is the one that got away. When is the last time a coach was traded though? Especially on a contract year.

Wow. What a wild idea.
Forget my opinion or the opinion of any of us. It seems completely far-fetched. The players love Zimmer. Spielman loves Zimmer. The Wilfs love Zimmer. I honestly think that as long as the Vikings don’t completely crater, Zimmer will be the Vikings’ coach for as long as he wants. I just don’t see this materializing.

I'm all for it especially if we get something in return. We've got a top 5 roster on this team and have underperformed consistently under Zimmer. Really seems like a decent head coach could take this roster over the top instead of dragging them down.
Give me Pat Shurmur as our HC. Let Edwards continue to run our defense.
Edit - I want to be fair... Zimmer has made us into a team that beats the teams we're supposed to beat. That was an improvement over Frazier. We need a coach that can win the bigger games now.

The Giants have fired Pat Schurmer this morning, Reports out that the Cowboys have fired the entire staff.

I think your overestimating this roster by a million miles. Top 5 roster. Yea right. We don't have a single OL player that is anywhere near the top. 4 of them shouldn't even be starting. They get pushed around by talented teams. That says nothing. We don't have a decent CB. It's a big need. Our QB isn't close to top 5. Cook is top 5 if you think a player that misses more games than he plays is top 5. The truth is if you can't play what is your value. This happens every year. Who knows if he's healthy now. Why would you let a guy that has a middle of the pack D continue? And his D don't create TOs. We could say bye bye to Edwards and the impact would be nothing. Shurmur had his chances. Being a HC is too much for him.

My theory has been that Zimmer wasn't fond of the Cousins deal. Maybe I'm right or maybe I'm wrong, we'll probably find out in a few years when the dust settles. I still think if it's one and out we'll be looking at some changes.

Jane Slater just now reported that is false as of now. 2:25 EST . Said Garrett is still in meetings with the Joneses. May happen but hasn't yet. Slater usually is pretty spot on in her reports.
Editing this.. the Shurmer part of course is true. I am just talking about the Cowboy situation.
Read it just as she was finishing her live report.

When it comes to trade, if Spielman is smart the answer will be "make me an offer I can't refuse". No matter who in the Vikings organization loves Zimmer and how much they love him, if Jones is willing to make Spielman an offer he can't refuse, Spielman should pull the trigger. I don't know what such an offer looks like, but Jones is the type of owner who I could see making it.
Also, opinions on the relative love for and commitment to Zimmer could radically change in less than a week pending the outcome of the game against the Saints. If the Vikings go out and lay another egg in that one like they did against the Packers, all bets are off in terms of Zimmer's future, and maybe Spielman's too. The Wilfs have given both pretty much everything they could want to try to get this team over the top. Last year they missed the playoffs after laying an egg at home against a Bears team that had nothing to play for at that point, and this year they likewise laid an egg at home against a Packers team that only had marginally more to play for. Zimmer chose not to try to win the last game against the Bears and rested as many starters as he could, which, IMHO, was also a questionable decision that resulted in his team losing it's 4th straight against the Bears in 2 seasons now and heading into the playoffs on a 2-game losing streak. Some will agree with that decision. I don't. Not with the way the offense played against the Packers. There are many teams that are completely out of the playoffs that played their starters in a meaningless final game and tried to win.
Anyway, suffice it to say that Zimmer's and Spielman's position with the team could change dramatically in less than 7 days. That doesn't mean the Vikings cut ties with either if they lose badly at the Saints, but it does mean the Wilfs might be more amenable to a change of the football leadership of the team, which makes a deal with someone like Jerry Jones a lot more likely if Jones really wants Zimmer.

Do you think Speilman would have signed Cousins if Zimmer didn't want him? They seem to work together. There needs to be big changes made regardless of playoff performance. Rhodes and Waynes need to go. Too much cap for little production. The OL needs to be rebuilt again. And not some draft pick either.

Now NFL Network reporting that Garrett is telling all coaches not under contract to look for employment elsewhere. Sounds like JerUh is gonna shake it up.

I looked up what Tampa gave to get Jon Gruden in 2002, it was two first round picks, two second round picks and 8 million cash. But less than a year later the Bucs won the Super Bowl.
