AD2K 2.0?

In 2012 when AD joined the 2K club, these were his stats through 8 games:

Code: Select all

Yards Attempts Average TDS
 775 151 5.13 4
So far through 8 games in 2015 his stat line is as follows:

Code: Select all

Yards Attempts Average TDS
 758 169 4.49 4
The question is not CAN (because I know there are posters here who will say anything is possible) but WILL Peterson become the first back in NFL history to have two 2,000 yard seasons at the end of this season?

I honestly believe that it is possible. If Teddy is unable to play the next week (or couple weeks?) this team will rely more on the run than the pass. Even if Teddy is back, I believe the team will lean on AD more as the season goes on. I believe that AD will continue to build steam as the season goes on. But, even with the possibility there, I believe he will fall short coming up with about 1800 yards.

Thoughts?

Edit: The reason I brought this up is due to the fact that in 2012 he had 2,097 yards and currently he is only 17 yards behind where he was at this same point in 2012, so therefore if he kept on pace he would finish 2015 with 2,051 yards, assuming he continued to gain yards at a rate of .978. (Yes I know that's not how statistics works, I have a B.S. in mathematics)

In 2012, when he was absolutely superhuman, Peterson averaged 166 in the second half. He ran behind a solid O-line and an All-Pro fullback in Jerome Felton.

This year, he would have to average 155 yards per game the rest of the way to eclipse 2,000. He's running behind a makeshift O-line and Zach Line at fullback.

I love AP. But it's not gonna happen.

He ran for 125 against a great (and DIRTY) D today.

Packers twice, Falcons indoors, Bears at home, Giants at home.......granted there are some tough games there as well, but none tougher and dirtier than today.

If he can bust off a 300 yard game in there...anything can happen. I for one won't count the guy out.

Possible, not probable. While I would love to see it, I just don't think it will happen. 1600 to 1800 sure.

Over the next 8 games he would have to average 25 carries a game at 6.2 yards per carry to do it.

I'd be happy for a 1300 yrd game. I think thats about where hes at with this Oline. Good news is the Oline played better today and so did AD. So maybe 1300 is a bit conservative. He has got to learn to hold onto the ball though. He could get a lot more passes too. But the drops have to stop.

I think he's on pace for around 1,500, which would still be a pretty great achievement. It's never a good idea to bet against AD but 2,000? I'll take the under.

I really can't see it happening. He has more attempts for less years behind a worse line. I'm happy for the season he's having, but talking about 2k right now seems a bit silly.

Then again, we do play Green Bay twice. That could be 450 yards between those two games...

The OL seems to be improving as they play together this season. So it's possible for AD to have a great year.

That said, I voted he wouldn't get 2000 yards this season, mostly because of the OL. I certainly hope Peterson does, which would be great for him and especially the team.

That would be 25 52 yard runs. Would be something to see for sure. But you don't get the ball 25 times a game. :D

Figure if you get the ball 10-12 times a game, 50 yards that would be a 500 yard game. Wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that.

No. Not with this line. There may be opportunities in later seasons, but not now...

No. I believe he is still physically capable, but our O-line is nowhere near as good now.
