Week 4 Predictions: Vikings at Broncos

I've had the opportunity to watch parts of every Broncos game so far this year and I'm MUCH more scared of that defense than the offense.
I'm going to be busy this week and I don't have time to share my thoughts right now, but I wanted to go ahead and open he thread to see how everyone else is feeling right now.

Totally agree sweets. That defense has so many huge pieces.. Talib, Ward, Harris Jr., Marshall, Trevathan, Miller, Ware.. Etc.
I honestly see a sub-100 yd effort from AD. Now, this is obviously one play away from about a 140 yd effort, but I expect them to;
A) not miss tackles
B) their corners are so good that if we aren't able to spread them out and actually threaten them through the air, they will stuff the box with 8-9 guys almost every play.
I think this will force Ted to win the battle through the air. A capability which he has not yet displayed this year (against worse defenses).
I am very worried about our offense in week 4 for a number of reasons, the line being number one. I honestly see their front seven destroying our line, so Norv will have to get creative.
On the other hand, I think our defense matches up very well with their offense. This will hinge on Xavier... Is he healthy enough to play. And will he be 100%? If he is, I don't see them putting up even 21 points... If Trae has to start and play the whole game, I could see about 22-34 pts.
So for now, until we know more about Xavier, I will make 2 predictions..
With Xavier: 17-24 Vikings
Without Xavier: 31-20 Broncos
Now I will revisit this prediction, if, say by Thursday, Xavier hasn't practiced but is still questionable..
29 makes that kind of difference.

I think the biggest difference will be if Peyton is under center or in the shotgun. Peyton looks average to bad when under center and it doesn't play to his strength. If he spends the majority of the game not in shotgun I say that gives us the best chance of winning.

Denver has manning and all of those pro bowl weapons on offense.. I agree,we need Rhodes to compete ...
I think the only way beat Manning in Denver is play a ball control take time off the clock, and be effective in
the pass; when we have the chance. If we don't keep Manning off Balance and move the ball down the field;
in Denver we lose. I am not sure we can win, without Rhodes.. It was nice to see Waynes playing better. I am
looking forward to seeing both of those guys; playing pro bowl ball together.
Our defense did look good and the last two weeks we really have kept the QB's out of the game...
Bascially if Every Viking does not play Great we lose in Denver, without a doubt ..so we will see ...
I am not going to lie... I WANT A 3-1 START VERY BAD SKOL

I could be very wrong about this but I think this will actually be a relatively easy win if we can avoid turnovers on offense and create some on defense. Peyton just does not look like Peyton anymore, I think the graphic from last night was 1 throw over 20 yards and he just does not have the juice for the deep ball anymore. That means you don't have to play the whole field and the result is they can't run the ball because no ones scared of getting beat. If we hit Manning as much as we hit Stafford and Rivers he won't finish the game.
On the flip side though, that defense is very good, maybe even as good as ours so like I said, we need to avoid turnovers on offense and while it wouldn't be exciting I think we can win just playing the field position battle and waiting on the defense to make a play and set the offense up.
20-17 Vikes

I think if our d line plays the way it has the past two weeks we have a good chance at winning. That also requires the coverage to be good because Manning Getz the ball out so quick. Being as that is if the coverage is decent to good Manning is like a statue in the pocket, we need to hit him hard early to rattle him, if that happens I think we win.
Early prediction
Vikings 24 Broncos 17

I'll be at this game. The Denver defense terrifies me. Our passing offense hasn't looked good and I'm not expecting a lot out of it here. Hopefully we can get the run game going. Let's go with 20-17 Vikings.
I realize this is a road game though. I;m really hoping for the win, but really just don't want the Vikings to look as horrible as they did against he 49ers even if they lose

Good
Meh
Bad
It's funny..
-Our offense put up
+2 more points than the Broncos against the Lions defense.
-Our defense allowed
+4 more points than the Broncos against the Lions Offense.
Both of our defenses forced
3 Turnovers against the Lions (MIN - 2FF, 1 INT) (DEN - 2INT, 1FF)
-Our offense had
1 turnover (FF) against the Lions.
-The Broncos had 2 turnovers (1INT, 1FF) against the Lions.
-Our defense had
1 sack against the Lions.
-The Broncos defense had 4 sacks against the Lions.
-Our O-line gave up
1 sack.
-The Bronco's gave up 1 sack.
-Ted went
14/
18 153 1TD 0INT vs. Lions
-Peyton went 31/42 324 2TD 1INT vs. Lions
Stafford went:
-32/53
286 2TD 1INT vs. us
-31/45 282 1TD 2INT vs. DEN
I think Denver did a slightly better job, even though we held him to a worse completion %.
-Adrian went for
29-134 against the Lions.
-The Broncos entire offense went for 19-41 against the Lions.
-The Lions went for 19-28 vs. the Broncos
-The Lions went for
16-38 vs. Us (20 of that to Stafford)
Both Pass defense vs. the Lions excelled with the possible slight edge going to DEN for getting 2INT and allowing 1TD.
The one thing that also gets me is Denver put up 10-0 in the 4th Quarter vs. DET, and we got beat
3-7 in the
4th Quarter vs. DET

Denver 30,Min 21. Close for most of the game but Denver pulls away late. I do not have one scenario in my head where the Vikings win this game.

Cause I predicted 31-20 DEN if Xavier doesn't go. Are you assuming full health with your prediction?

I think the vikings should put in a couple running plays for teddy. Teddy is a good runner and it would add another element to make defenses wonder about. I kinda wanna see a shotgun delayed draw from teddy up the middle, or a play action bootleg run.

What if Peyton gets sacked and is out for the game? Or our O line plays phenomenal and holds their defense to 0 sacks and very few hurries? Or how bout AP goes off and gets 300 yards and 4 Tds? Or how bout Teddy has a great game 300 yards and 4 tds?
I think there is plenty of ways we could pull out a win.

The only thing I can think of is a massive defensive slaughter by the Vikings and a repeat of Sunday (with a defensive TD and winning the turnover battle). Denver's offensive line is better than Detroit's. It's better than the patched-up JV squad SD trotted out there. But what's working for the Vikings already is that Denver has essentially no running game. They currently rank 31st in the league (just ahead of Detroit) with 2.6 yards/attempt, a LONG rush of 16 yards and averaging 57 rushing yards/game. That's kind of...sad. This will be the Peyton Manning shotgun show and it'll be a matter if Manning can get the ball out before the Vikings' pass rush can get to him. Manning is one of the best/fastest at doing this so it should be a good battle but the Vikings need to hit Manning early and often. Tackling will be key as well as we cannot allow the receivers to pick up tons of YAC off the quick throws. AD will need to be vintage AD as well as I don't see Teddy having a very productive game. Like, I'm really scared about our pass protection and Teddy's health/decision making/accuracy.
We also need some kind of answer at safety because Sendejo is, at best, a very good special teams player. Hoping Rhodes can suit up but after he was knocked out (he had to have been with the way he flopped limply down after getting hit by Sendejo) it wouldn't shock me if he didn't pass the protocol (in addition to potentially other injuries he sustained). The prospect of Trae Waynes or Newman on Thomas/Sanders doesn't exactly inspire a lot of confidence. Which makes getting to Manning in 1.5-2 seconds even that much more essential.
