Not a fan of this move at all. He was still the most reliable receiver on the team.

That didn't take long.

So they're giving up leadership and skill for a questionable attitude and speed. I hope it pays off!

My guess is they asked Jennings if he would take a pay cut and he refused.

I think that's a cap hit of about $6 million this year....

I hate this move.

Bad juju IMO.

Time for Jarius to step up now.

Just not a fan of this. I don't think this will be an addition by subtraction move. Didn't see the need to cut Jennings.

That's upsetting.

I don't know if I'll be more upset or relieved if they attempt to resign him, assuming he doesn't get snatched up.

I was just trying to lighten the mood. :)

They're definitely taking some chances here but Jennings' contract was either going to be an issue this year or next year. They probably decided they weren't getting sufficient return on their investment. He was going to make $11 million this season.

I don't know if there was a "need" to cut him or not but that may depend on what they do next.

I'm not at all surprised if GJ refused a pay cut. His stock kinda plummeted here thanks to the dysfunction of the passing game. It certainly wasn't his fault. He looked great when Cassel played and he had just started to synch up with TB late last season. I was keen on seeing him in this system this year.

oh well....

I just don't see the harm in letting him have one more year here. Minnesota's receiving corp is far from a sure thing. The only silver lining is this still allows Minnesota to be flexible enough to draft a receiver high in the NFL draft.

As I said, we don't know what they plan to do next. Maybe paying Jennings and Wallace a total of almost $20 million this season did harm their plans.

Wow... I am shocked. Not mad necessarily, but shocked. He was the one player on offense who always seemed to be in the game.

Jennings contract was becoming an albatross for sure.....but losing his skill set changes the landscape at the position.
All the debate about whether you need a #1 wr vs a group that does everything between them is interesting. I'd say it's far more likely to find a guy who can stretch the field deeper in the draft than it is to get a guy with the skills GJ has. Maybe Wright can fill that void with solid play.

If GJ's contract was preventing them from being able to sign M.Johnson, I get it. But I also thought they could keep GJ for one more season even at the price he was getting.
