2015 Schedule

So, a discussion on another thread is dealing with either losing the last two games of the season for a a better draft pick and easier games next year. I understand the idea, but I just can't think that it makes that much difference. For example. This is who we play outside the division next year. If we end up in 3rd or 4th the only difference is that we would play the Giants/Redskins or Tampa/ and at this time Atlanta. Now being in 4th it might be easier on paper. But I just don't know if it will make that much difference. Thoughts?

I'm excited for the Seattle game, at home. Definitely going to that one. I hate Seattle with a passion. They're damn good. But I hate them.

Misunderstood the way the schedule is done.
That said, I'd rather play Redskins/Bucs over Giants/Falcons.
Which, again, could possibly mean the difference between no playoffs, and that last wild card spot.
Does that really make no difference?

Well you are assuming that those teams are not going to be any better or worse next year than they are this year. I understand your thought process but I wonder, how many time have teams in the bottom stayed at he bottom the next year. Redskins probably will because they are in turmoil. Bucs/Falcons, if it's the Falcons, who knows.

Matt Ryan or whoever the Bucs QB is. As you said, seems Skins are easier win than Giants. And Ryan is likely a better QB than whoever the Bucs can put on the field...

Should be interesting. NFC West and AFC West. Arguably the two best divisions out of each conference as of today. May change for next year, but still a potentially tough draw.
Bring it!

Either way this year we had the easiest schedual we will ever get and did rather poorly. Next year is certain to be harder. We really need to upgrade the team across the board before 2015 starts.

Ouch indeed, You ain't kidding. Who knows what the NFC south will be like next year. Love to kick the Saints #### indeed. Years ago I remember your schedule outside your division was based on how well your team did the year before. When did this change? every year our Schedule seems to get tougher and tougher. Or are we just that bad?

Should not have any out of division games. Screw this sub division crap. If your in the NFC you play every team in the nfc and one team twice. The top 6 teams go to playoffs. That would get rid of this crap of a 4-12 division winner making the playoffs and some 11-5 team getting shafted.

So, based on our schedule this year, we played the Rams and Redskins instead of the Giants and Cardinals right? You don't think that may have made a difference this year? I sure do. We're tied with Bears at best, a game behind them at worst if we're playing that slightly tougher schedule. So yeah, I think it does matter...

Playing a tougher schedule this year, by your logic, would have been a GOOD thing, because then we could have lost more games and gotten an 'easier' schedule and better draft pick for the next season..but that would have been a bad thing, because then we would have won more games the next year with that easier schedule, which would in turn set up a harder schedule and lower draft pick the following year.

Your statement proves the point. Who would have put the Cardinals in first place at the beginning of the year? Did anyone? Most had the Niners and Seahawks up there. The point being, we have no idea which teams will be good next year. Next year we play the East and South. Say we end up 3rd in the division this year. And Atlanta and the Giants end up 3rd so we play them. Who's to say they are not two of the top teams next year? We just don't know.
I do see your point. And I wonder just how much it matters in the long run. Maybe if I have some time this weekend I will go back 10 years and see if made much of a difference.

We're at week 16 of this year. This weak schedule, with a healthy team, and this coaching staff, could have meant the playoffs. You do get that much right? Next offseason, I don't think we should tank, nor do I want us to go 0-16. But when we're eliminated from the playoffs and winning means two things, a worse pick, and a tougher schedule, yeah, I think we're better off losing...
Thank god we did so poorly last year, it meant that worthless coaching staff got canned. You really wanted 7 or 8 wins, no playoffs, worse pick, and Frazier/Musgrave going forward? Possibly no Barr or Teddy?
Next year, a slightly weaker schedule MAY mean the difference between making the playoffs and not.
Draft picks? You think maybe another team might have had a better chance of trading up if our picks had been just a pick or two later? Who knows, but it's possible. Do we get Barr with that later pick if we win a game or two more? Who knows. He was there when we picked, and every earlier pick, he wasn't there after we picked....
I do see your point. And I wonder just how much it matters in the long run. Maybe if I have some time this weekend I will go back 10 years and see if made much of a difference.
Good idea! I don't know how it'll work out. But even Gerbschmidt (or however you spell it) thought the Vikes would win more games this year because of the slightly easier schedule because of our last placed finish coming into this season. And he's a Packer rube bit character!!!

Looks like its going to be a tougher schedule. I bet teams don't look at us as wimpy thought in 2015.
