stunned silence or a waning fan base?

I am really surprised at the lack of comments/posts after a kick-#### opening game for 2014! Either everyone isstunned by our excellent performance and an obvious HUGE improvement in being coached up for a game......or Viking fans have finally been fatigued by chronic failures......I hope its the former and everyone is just hung over on victory beers.
maybe this is just what it looks like when your team flat out dominates and there is no controversy to argue about

They'll be back when the Vikes are poised for a playoff run. Let's just look around and remember who has been here through it all.

Just taking a cautious approach. That was a great game and I'm still really excited for the season. I've been around long enough to remember some of those other years though where we got off to a great start and then just fell apart.

It's funny, I just posted this on the other thread. This article kind of explains exactly what you're asking.

This was not a litmus test for us being a good team at all.

Check out the game day thread and the threads discussing playoffs and such. Oh...and some of us predicting a win over the Pats.
There is optimism in the air. Everyone take a deep breath.

in my experience on message boards, things often get pretty quiet after great games like this because you can only really say "we did almost everything right" a couple times.
The bad games are when the emotions run high and the debates start.

You are likely right and Ponder wasn't even dressed so that eliminated at least 100 posts.

I deleted some posts. Let's get past the good fan/bad fan posts and related commentary and keep focused on football. If anyone feels the need to discuss that stuff, it can be done via PM. Thanks.

Speaking of silence and fans, where the heck is Eli? I'm concerned! It's not like him to miss roster cuts, games, etc. Besides that, his big anniversary is coming up. (Yes, I notice these things lol). He joined on Sep 12, 2004. Surely y'all care about his well-being after 10 years. Go make sure he's okay for me, so I know. I'm worried sick.
Come back, Eli. I miss your face.

Lot's of reasons --
1. It's just one game.
2. Vikings fans are used to being disappointed in the end.
3. The NFL has a black eye these days with respect to the Ray Rice incident and other issues that are less in the spotlight but also important (such as whitewashing the concussion problem for so long).
Don't underestimate the importance of the third issue. I realize that most Vikings fans aren't Maryland taxpayers like I am, but the thought of my tax dollars going to buy a stadium for the Baltimore Ravens and then seeing them handle the Ray Rice incident the way they have until yesterday is sickening to me. I suspect there are repercussions throughout the league and that interest in the NFL is waning, at least for the moment. Perhaps I'm wrong -- I haven't seen any polls -- but that's the sense I get from the people I know, and I'm feeling a bit like an enabler myself for having paid Goodell's massive salary over the years with my NFL Sunday ticket and NFL merchandise payments.

Eli was actually banned for a week a couple of weeks back. He hasn't been back since that.

speaking of Ray Rice, this is not the first time Baltimore has kept a disgusting felon close to its breast....surely you recall a certain Defensive Back who was part of a homicide? He remained a home team favorite despite his nefarious rep. The only team more sad is Pittsburg and their love of rapist wanna be rothlisburg.
