Bridgewater starts when?

Just a poll for fun. This is when you THINK he starts not when you want him to start.

I think the Vikings start him this season. Pretty sure they will be eliminated from playoff contention late, so I say Bridgewater gets in a game or 2 as starter. Then there is also the possible of injury or bad play by Cassell.

I think he sits next year. He can bulk up his frame, learn the system, and tighten up his mechanics. Signing Cassel to a new deal means he's likely to start while they groom a long-term option.

OH NO! NOT MORE CASSEL! :wallbang: :wallbang: :wallbang:

:point:

I just hope we bump off Ponder somehow. What if Cassel gets hurt, and Teddy isn't ready? He sits watching P-P-P-Ponder?

I voted for game 1 2015 season. I think Cassel will start all of next season and for some reason if he gets hurt we will see ponder  . Best case scenario would be that Cassel stays healthy and manages to get us to the playoffs this year that way we could give Teddy 2-3 years to learn from Norv and Cassel.

I think it would depend on when Cassel gets hurt. If he gets hurt and the season is essentially lost, I think they might start Teddy. Otherwise it could be Ponder but you never really know at this point, we'll see how Bridgewater looks when the pads are on.

I just hope Cassel stays healthy. I think he can take us far this year, but its nice to know we have another starter waiting in the wings.

Everyone is going to think I'm crazy, and I am, but I think that there will be an open competition during training camp and Ponder will win the starting job. I think Norv is going to help him tremendously and he will be able to beat out Cassel for the job though I think it will be a close competition. I don't know how Bridgewater will look yet but I doubt he's ready to start. He needs time to sit on the bench and learn - maybe a year but most likely two. Whoever ends up starting, they will be the best player we have and I'll support them 100%.

I wouldn't count it out actually. Ponder isn't a lack of talent, that's for sure. I've said that many times, but I still think Cassel is going to win the starting job.

What I want is for Bridgewater to just take it, but I think there's something to be said about QBs who sit for about 2 or 3 years and play only in spots.

Well if theres anything we know about Ponder it's that he looks real good in shorts. Hopefully Norv can tell the difference between improvement and playing 7on7 or against air.

Ponder beat Cassel?  Heeeheeeee! Not a chance! Even if he did win the preseason competition bad Ponder would appear again in Game 1. And besides, we reeeeeeeeally need to put all of that behind us, so we can complain about someone else.

Teddy Bridgewater could be a day 1 starter. He has a better supporting cast than Ponder did as a rookie. Cassel is good but he isnt consistent. Bridgewater, on tape, has shown to be very consistent and accurate. I think he beats out Cassel and Ponder.

yeah, but unlikely...you don't lose much and stand to gain a lot by having him sit a spell, while you stand to lose a lot by starting him too soon.

I chose "later in 2015", because I think Cassel will take us to the playoffs this year.

Hard to say. I think Cassel will play well enough to keep in playoff contention this year, but you never know. I went with game one in 2015, because, in actuality, I guarantee that this staff really wants Bridgewater to sit and learn for a year. I don't see this team making the mistake of rushing a rookie out there on the field again and hurting his development.

Oh and BTW, this shouldn't really surprise anyone on this board (especially you Jim!), but I already ordered my Teddy Bridgewater jersey. There is something about me getting a rookie's jersey and their subsequent success for this team. I am not saying I have an effect on the players, but hey, you never know! :P

Idk time will tell. I just think with Bridgewater talent, he could beat out Cassel. I believe that the fact that Ponder is so horrible, he actually makes Cassel look like a pro bowl QB. I honestly don't believe in Cassel as a full season starter. The only reason I think most fans wanted him starting was because no one wanted Ponder to start again. Cassel is just too inconsistent to me. But I'm all for giving him a chance if the coaches see fit.

Maybe I'm just too anxious to see Bridgewater on the field. :banana2: But I really don't see anything in his game that says he needs to sit for a season. What if Cassel didn't sign back? Would Bridgewater still need to sit? Even if that meant Ponder was going to be the starter?

LOL! If I remember correctly, your presence at home games seems to influence the outcome so why not carry that effect over to rookie jerseys?

Wear that Bridgewater jersey with pride!
