Thought this was an interesting article even though admittedly I don't know much about Zimmer. Sounds intriguing, any thoughts?

I would be so happy with Zimmer, that I would become the most positive poster here. Even Horton. And the Wilf's money could buy either. But they are idiots when it comes to HC's, so my guess is O'Brien. Zimmer could make this D look so good after a year or 2, even Musgrave's KAO would look good. Because the D wouldn't be blowing every lead in the 4th quarter.

Yesssss! I recently had us signing Zimmer in the mock offseason that I did on here. He is by far my #1 choice. Very aggressive and fiery guy that has a great reputation around this league.

If last week's demolition of the Vikings is any indication of what Mike Zimmer can do (most dominating defensive performance AGAINST the Vikings this season), I say, "Bring him to the Twin Cities."

He's had a top 10 defense every year he's coached defense and that aggressive style is like a drug I want in on haha. He's the exact opposite of Frazier though and doesn't take any bull ####. Someone's feelings will probably be hurt so it might be a little too hard on these fragile ego's but he's one of those coaches that gets respect from even the worst of guys like Pacman Jones by knowing what he's doing and getting results, not just because he's a nice guy that want's to be their friend.

Interesting article. It did nothing to make me interested in Zimmer as HC because I don't like DCs turned HC and the last thing we need is another nasty HC. But I don't think I'd sneeze at him for DC, but it seems he already has one of those gigs.

However the article did pique my interest in O'Brien a bit, though maybe only as OC. I'm skeptical of HC candidates with no NFL HC experience, though he did serve under one of the best.

When is the last time the Vikings had a DOMINANT defense? Zimmer would bring a much needed upgrade. If you can keep Adam Jones in tow, negative hype of Burfict,( he is over the top on the field as many predicted. A defensive Randy Moss, if you will. He is the steal of the draft.) .
Not only bring in a defensive minded coach but give him draft authority on draft day. I am sure that Lewis has his handprint on the defense but not as much as MZ one would assume.

Zimmer is tough, but if any of you watched Hard Knocks this past summer, you will see that his players would charge into war for him.


Zimmer is my top candidate for the head coaching job here in Minnesota. I sincerely hope Zygi is taking a hard look at Zimmer, the man has been LONG over due for a head coaching job.

I'd be much more interested in a guy who gets more out of less. Bengals have a heck of a lot of talent on that defense. Obviously he's done a lot more to earn the job than the two clowns it's been leaked that the Vikings have checked on. And might pan out. But at this point I still want someone who's had NFL head coaching experience to get a foundation in place. Who's done it, and can get things set up the way they need to be, and the way I don't think a guy like Tice, Childress, or Frazier ever did.

Speaking of talent, how about Bevell? Guy is below average with TJoke, Wilson shows up...a year later he's a head coaching candidate. We saw him here, anyone want to trust that guy to run the team? No thanks...unless he brings Wilson and Beastmode with him...

Year before O'Brien? #1 in points and yards. Year after O'Brien? #1 in points and yards. Who was calling the plays those years? McDaniels...how about we hire that guy as head coach? Seems like he's earned a shot!

Mike Zimmer deserves a head coaching job all right -- but naturally I prefer it be here in Cincinnati if Mike Brown "promotes" Marvin Lewis to the Front Office. If you can land him in Minnesota, more power to you! He's tough and scary and demands perfection from everyone at all depths. Last week in Cincinnati the defense played very well without Geno Atkins and without both starting cornerbacks Leon Hall and Terence Newman. On the Bengals' roster, Adam Jones is second string!

Yep, he knows how to get results all through out the depth chart, not just your first round picks / starters. He's exactly what we need so I hope you guys don't promote him. Is that a serious consideration? To just promote Lewis to make Zimmer the coach? heh.

So how about a guy like Rex Ryan? He'll probably be looking for a new job in a couple weeks. He took the Jets to two consecutive conference championship games with Mark freakin Sanchez as his QB. He seems like a guy who could come in and whip the defense into shape, just find a good OC to pair with him.

I'd be fine with Zimmer too. I like the idea of going out and finding a defensive-minded head coach who can come in and immediately improve things. There are a few candidates out there who fit this description. I guess it's just a matter of what kind of personality type you're going for because as they always say, the team takes on the personality of it's head coach.

Yes it is.

There's a story about Mike Zimmer you might like. In 2012 during training camp in Cincinnati, undrafted rookie linebacker Vontaze Burfict made a phone call home to his mother. "How is camp, sweetie?" asked Mama Burfict.

"Mama," Vontaze replied. "It's Coach Zimmer. He's, um, uh...Mama, I'm scared to death of that man!"

Mama Burfict replied, "Vontaze, that is the kind of coach you want to play for. He'll make you great."

Vontaze is the NFL's leading tackler. Mama, as usual, was right.
